Opportunist Dengar?

By TK 421, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Anyone tried to run Opportunist on Dengar? I like him with K4 security + R4B11. The auto target lock is awesome. Then either barrel roll or focus. If you fly him with Manaroo you can have multiple focus tokens. The K4 also helps because even if you block me, I get the TL. A good offensive roll means you have to roll your defensive dice twice. A bad offensive roll, I have a tl. A good red dice + your bad green dice = tl for Dengar's special ability.

Now, what would Opportunist look like in that build? Theoretically by Dengar's special ability you may not have a focus or evade token. At range 1, that's 5 dice and an easy to ditch stress. Thoughts?

Opportunist favors lower PS due to opponent having spent tokens by the time your opportunist engages. Your opponent can counter a PS9 with Opportunist by simply focus/evade tokening up every turn.

A better alternative (one I like very much) is Opportunist Manaroo, or even Scout, to make that turret actually count. PS4 presents better scenarios to activate it.

How about Opportunist Dengar with this gent and some others as an escort?

I'm looking forward to this. I think it lends itself to opportunist very well. It's like Wes + opportunist Keyan.

I agree on one level and will probably try it on the Scout first. Dengar + Opportunist Scout sounds great (plus you can still increase your torpedo dice). I think if you used Opportunist on Dengar, it would work better when Dengar uses his special ability. Of course, if you have another ps9 on the board or the right HWK, you may have burned through his focus. He then goes from being powerful to really powerful. :)

I like the way you're thinking, but remember: Dengar is not Corran - Corran and Opportunist are star-crossed lovers. Dengar and Opportunist is a long-distance relationship, requiring some effort (and squad points) to pull off.

Man, I do love flying Corran too . . . :)
