Monster Miniatures

By player1367538, in Mansions of Madness

The larger Arkham Horror miniatures aren't really to scale. If so, the large ones wouldn't be useable on the maps/boards.

If they'd had made it the size of the 1st ed chtonian figure I would have been fine with it.

Bendy staff on the high priest there... needs hot water

I think there are nearly 20 NPC tokens though, but that's exactly the same as MoM 1st edition.

Eh? There were not 20 NPC tokens in 1st Ed.

I was also confused by this. The base game of 1st Ed. didn't have any NPC tokens. CotW expansion had 5 and that was it.

Jacob Marley?

Great now we can have H.P.Lovecraft's Christmas carol.

This could be Barnabas Marsh, and one of the scenarios is "escape from Innsmouth," I think it is likely. I hear that Barnabas Marsh is one of the only monster minis they haven't release for purchase so far.

(EDIT: These are the minis that were never available from what I can gather, Barnabas Marsh, Deep One Hybrid, Priest of Dagon, Star Spawn. Star Spawn looks like it has been confirmed so the others would not surprise me)

I'm pretty sure this is a ghost. The mini in the MoM2e picture is the exact miniature model as the ghost in the Arkham Horror Line. One of the fatter minis is likely Barnabas Marsh, as he is described as being so far advanced that he could no longer close his bulging fish eyes.

True, haha. I'm just trying to hold onto the hope that the mini collection will be completed for those who were hoping for a full set.

I think all the 2E monsters and Investigators will be miniatures. The "Conversion Kit" likely comes with chits or tokens for some/all of the 1E monsters so that they can be used by those who do not own 1E.

Otherwise non 1E players would be kinda pissed off that they paid for "Conversion" components for a game they do not own and can no longer buy.

24 monster miniatures and 33 monster tokens from the conversion kit.

The app must be able to use the CK monsters for people who don't own 1e or else the tokens would be pointless.

No, the tokens go in the monster bases, and have the stats and special attacks visible. These have likely changed for 2nd edition, so a new set of tokens is needed.

So two more new investigators are identified in the third preview: Carson Sinclair and Father Mateo.

It looks like every missing monster in the AH range is included in MoM2e.

The other monsters seem to be the same sculpts that already existed for that range.

Maybe I'm confused, but aren't there waaaaay more monsters in the AH range? MoM doesn't yet have most of the monsters from waves 2, 3, and 4. Just Wave 1.

Most of AH monsters were released as premium pre-painted figures to be sold as stand-alone objects. Some of these, unpainted, where included in the MoM 1st edition boxes

It's not that MoM 1e + 2e cover all the monsters in the premium range.

It's that some monsters from the arkham horror game were never part of the premium range, it's those monsters that are in MoM 2e.. to complete the AH line-up.

Since I have all premium pre painted figures of the Arkham Collection I am not worried :) .

I only see one problem: playability for a group. Sorting things out and wading through all these miniatures is a mess when other players wait for them to be set up.

That's why I only use the tokens in EH for example. I wonder if I will bother to use all the unpainted monsters from the first edition + expansions when there is a token available ...

So all these "problems" are trivial really. At last ! ... I can play MoM more than once a year ... with all this money invested. Finding a group with an equally mind of interest was more difficult than finding a Charizard in Pokemon.
