Ion and get a good shot. Should you end up with no hits on an Autoblaster roll you can even choose not to trigger Fearlessness and shoot again instead using B's ability. Think it can be fun, I'm going to try it at least.

I love alternative IG88 builds. This sounds like a lot of fun.

Going to have to be careful piloting it though, as you don't want to bump into your ion'd target after the first time you use dampeners.

Well, the idea of dampeners is not to set up the second attack, they're rather an emergency brake for bad situations. Typically you won't even want to face an opponent head on. Otherwise you might be capable of ioning a target and then switching target while the other aggressor (which is hopefully flanking) moves in and takes the range 1 shot.

Typically you won't even want to face an opponent head on.

You will if you want to trigger Fearlessness.

No IG-88C? Seems like you'll be boosting a lot to get into range 1 of your target. No idea which to replace though.

C or D are the prime candidates, either boost to get into range 1 or have the additional segnors to sqeeze in easier from the flank. Haven't completely decided which one I'd prefer.

C should be the no-brainer. Not even sure I'd want B in there. Although B/Autoblaster is cute, you're paying too many points to make that R1 work.

I'd go:

IG88-A/C (36):

  • Fearlessness (1)
  • Proton Bombs (5)
  • Sensor Jammer (4)
  • Autothtrusters (2)
  • Glitterstim / Feedback Array (2)

Between SJ, AT and Glitterstim and free evades, you have plenty of defensive measures to attack head-on. Fearlessness rewards aggressive plays and Proton Bombs create a huge danger zone. For improved danger zones against aces, Feedback Array is gold.

It was never intended to be competitive or match-winning, it's just a fun combo with decent chances at ionizing and dealing up to 4 unavoidable hits. No one's gonna want to be in arc facing either ion with gunner or autoblaster. I don't really care about optimizing for certain opponents as I wouldn't take this to a tournament anyway, that I have other lists for. Since I can't play competitive lists all the time in casual play I need something else to play around with, and this is one of those things. Like the one time I took opportunist wedge, wes and jan ors just to get the chance to throw 6 dice at range 1 at a target with -1 agility. It's a horrible list competitively speaking, but it was fun, and that's what I'm counting in this case.
