hey guys,
with all the hype surrounding the fang, it's easy to lose sight of the sexiest ship in the game (by far, the ARC
)
for the purposes of this thread, that means this guy
ignoring the many obvious differences between the two ships, Thane is about the only rebel ship capable of (efficiently, though r2-d6 deadeye horton can use protons very well) emulating the Overclocked R4 Scout's torpedo attacks and he can do it without deadeye
All you need is his ability, i.e a target-lock that can be taken during combat but before he attacks (re: versus PS > 4), and a focus for your normal action. This gives you a focus leftover after spending the TL to fire plasmas, and an unused mod slot for g-chips
Why is this so cool even though it doesn't use deadeye? because, just like deadeye,
1.) You don't have to rely on low PS target-locks, you just have to have the enemy in arc
2.) because it triggers after the enemy's attack, it cannot be slapped off by things like Dengaroo's countermeasures or Wes Jenson or Black One when it comes out
of course, given the rebel alliance's weird fetish for single torpedo slot ships, you're only getting one plasma out of the deal
On the plus side, since deadeye is not needed, Thane has an open ept slot (r4-d6 only, sadly) and an open crew slot to help him out. While rebels have nothing like 4-lom yet, we're waiting on two new crew options from Heroes of the Resistance (as well as one unique astromech)
just something for any rebel enthusiast to keep an eye on going forward
