Outback Armada

By Boothy, in Star Wars: Armada

I originally posted these up on the Australian Armada facebook page. People seem to be liking them so I thought I would share with you people as well.

Not so long ago in a place about 1500km from the nearest city:.......

Armada by moonlight (its surprisingly easy to see the dice results).

On a couple of nights it got a bit cold, so we had to build a fire to stop condensation from forming on the ships bases.

The mission control centre. The home away from home where we spend more time than home.....

Nice! Where where these taken?

Man that looks like a blast!

Thanks. Its a fairly non-descript area a little south of the Hamersley Ranges in Western Australia.......kind of near Karijini national park. The landscape is usually a lot more exciting, but starts flattening out pretty quickly once you head south of the main Ranges.

Never been over that side of the coast, but I'll have to make the trip sometime.

I'll also need to steal this idea wholesale the next time I go down to Jervis Bay, a game of Armada on the beach during the evening sounds wonderful!

South of Port Headland, I think... Its been a long time since I was out that way... Nearly 20 years.

Spent most of my WA time on the Nulls, rather than that far north. Missed out on Karratha a bunch of times.

But, very cool to see it being played out in the Red :D

Fantastic photos!

And I thought we were isolated here in Perth, Austraila :)

Hope to see you next time you're in town.

You are :P, but he makes you guys look like city folk.

TINY Pictures...hard to see anything at all.

Oh, so sorry! I rolled your objective token into the fire!

That's OK, I've got a gazillion of those.

Stop making me hate you ;)

It's the outback - the photos have to be small lest the vastness destroy your mind...

Does anyone know how to make the pictures bigger? I have them hosted on photo bucket. Usually I have to put "~original" on the end of the link to get the full size picture, but when I tried that here the forum told me it wasn't allowed.

Diablo - yes some armada on the beach would also be great (just don't drip salt water on the bases lol)......so long as the wind was good. The caravan was a good wind break for us.

Dras - yes it's south east of port headland, not sure how far, would probably be over 500km, but less than 1000km.

imgur is a good image host for forums, methinks.

The Karijini gorges are well worth an explore if you can get there - some quite surreal terrain and experiences to be had.

Edit: made me think, now there's a challenge - run an X-Wing trench run in one of those deep narrow gorges ;)
