Discarding/Play tokens without using the respective action

By Baranjagon, in Runebound

Hello

I have had this discussion over at bbg already and got kind of an answer. Just wanted to see if i get an official statement from ffg about it. Here it goes:

- Can I, as a combat action, choose to discard tokens and willingly renounce to play them or do I have to use them to full extent possible when i choose them in a combat action?

E.g.:

1) Player goes first and activates mind melt. I(the monster) do not wanna play my skull-dmg tokens because mind melt would hit me(the monster) to hard but my foe can do something with my skull-tokens (due to a card) so after he/she activated mind melt on his/her turn I play all my skulls but without using them (as a defensive move - to fight another day).

Is that possible? I guess not but I am curious to get ffg's word on it :-)

Sorry but no. There is no action stated that allows you to discard combat tokens.

As for getting an official word from FFG you'd be better of emailing them directly. They don't really patrol the forums in that manner.

In the rules it states:

Passing

If you do not wish to perform a combat action, you may pass.

If you pass, you cannot perform any more combat actions during this round of combat, but you can still spend {shield} symbols.

So in essence you can just choose to do nothing that round to avoid damage, and then at the start of the next round recast all your tokens.

This is pretty much what you were saying but just being a bit more specific.

But i guess the answer is: you can pass at anytime but everything that you didn't use for it's purpose, is left behind on the "battle field" and can be used for actions by your opponent.
