Crazy or Clever?

By RogueCommander, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

i've an idea that I'd like some feedback on. I think this is a list that will require a lot of play testing to fly right, but I think it has some potential.

Rieekan Hard Mode?

Faction: Rebel Alliance

Points: 397/400

Commander: General Rieekan

Assault Objective: Precision Strike (I could see swapping out for Most Wanted, but the point potential of PS it too tempting)

Defense Objective: Contested Outpost (forces them to move to one spot)

Navigation Objective: Intel Sweep (Forces movement and a predictable path)

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63 points) basic tactic: flanker, juicy target)

- Admonition ( 8 points)

- Lando Callriassian ( 4 points)

- Ordnance Experts ( 4 points)

= 79 total ship cost

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57 points)
Basic tactic: Jouster, then light carrier for named bombers, very juicy target)

- Yavaris ( 5 points)

- Veteran Captain ( 3 points)

= 65 total ship cost

Nebulon-B Support Refit (51 points)
Basic tactic: Jouster, lowest priority target)

- Salvation ( 7 points)

- Spinal Armament ( 9 points)

= 67 total ship cost

[ flagship ] GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
Basic tactic: juiciest target of all, skirt the battle as much as possible)

- General Rieekan ( 30 points)

- Quantum Storm ( 1 points)

- Adar Tallon ( 10 points)

- Boosted Comms ( 4 points)

- Bomber Command Center ( 8 points)

= 71 total ship cost

3 X-Wing Squadrons ( 39 points)

1 Luke Skywalker ( 20 points)

1 "Dutch" Vander ( 16 points)

1 Jan Ors ( 19 points)

1 Nym ( 21 points)

Drop Those Xwings, and replace with Wedge. If you have 4 escort squadrons you cant use Rieekans power to absorb the first assault from the enemy. There is nothing more amusing than a squad of Interceptors being unable to shoot anyone but Wedge.

Consider Dash or Keyan as another squadron with the spare points from the above.

Bright Hope not Quantum Storm, you will be spamming squad commands so QS doesnt help.

I have been running Yav, Salvation, Bright Hope, Jaina for a while, and Salvation is not seen as a lower priority target, they really try to kill it fast. Everyone has a horror image of Salv rolling 5 crits, which never ever happens. If you want to save some points you dont really need spinal armament over slaved turrets.

My concern with this build is activation order. In what order do your ships activate? Does Yavaris or Landmontion have priority on first activation? I know its Rieekan, but if you can save a ship by activating first, which one activates?

Yeah, good suggestions all around. Do the objectives make sense?

I'm not sure on activation order either. I think that has to be tested out, but my first inclination would be towards Admo or Salvation, to try to give Yavaris and Bright Hope a decent set up.

Nice list there.

Its the indecision I worry about, when you face it in battle I expect the indecision to force errors. But hey, try it out and see if it starts to make sense.

As for objectives, DROP PRECISION STRIKE, ARE YOU CRAZY MAN! Rieekan and precision strike is a horror show. They'll pick it only if they can rack up loads of points on a dead ship. Advanced Gunnery would work well, except the cost of spinal armaments on Salv. Opening Salvo can be nice but its not friendly to getting a high score as you will ram at some point, so maybe most wanted?

Hyperspace with Salvation is a nice yellow objective. Drop him in behind and snipe safely. Better yet, drop him behind Demo and suddenly Demo is trapped between Salvs front arc and Yavaris' bombers. They'll panic and do something stupid.

Blues are a much of a muchness for this list.

For Adv Gunnery, maybe drop Slaved Turrets and add XX9s? I can see trying out all three (wasn't thinking about the bonanza Rieekan would be)

Hyperspace shows up on my lists a lot, so I wanted to try out Contested Oupost just to see if I can make it work in our meta. People never pick it because the assumption it's easy mode for Imps.

I think I might swap Nym for Keyan as well, unless I can find room for Toryn Farr. Which I can't at the moment, unless I scrap something like Slaved Turrets. The idea of an Adar/Yavaris triple tap with Nym and two rerolls on that blue die is nice.

I would defo go Keyan for this list, he's mental with yavaris and tallon, with bomber command centre you can even afford to crit fish......

I would sneak in APT for the MC30 and think about swapping out reeker for Doddona, this list just generated crits like.. really common things. Then you can keep Presicion strike and just laughs if they pick it.

O yes put LTRC and vet captain on salvation it's wet yourself good.

I've actually sold my self on Nym. Re-rolling that Blue die twice is pretty powerful, esp with Yavaris, plus, all I need is to swap Slaved turrets for Toryn Farr. With those rerolls he is a token stripping machine.

I'll test as a Rieekan build first, but yeah, Dodonna is good too.
