So about the Arquitens-class on the campaign box...

By ForceSensitive, in Star Wars: Armada

But seriously though, the arqs.

Depictedo primarily with turbolasers and uses TIES for fighter defense.

Might see tight arcs, like the nebulon-bit with the narrow front. Allow for double arcs while still facing forwards, not sideways.

In terms of power, might be 2 red dice out of the front and sides with no turbolasers upgrades.

B version might swap out 1 of the red dice and add in 2 black dice.

Would be very unwieldly if it was slow because it is surplused clone wars tech and therefore speed 2... as a small ship... would feel VERY different from the radiator and the gladiator if they did that. Mini victory to escort victory to ... success.

Crossing fingers that it is speed 3!

Could be fun if it has red front and rear, and black on the sides.

I actually kinda like the idea that it could be a speed-2 small, just give it a decent amount of maneuverability and it'd work fantastic in the role as a capital escort.

Dice-wise, I'd like to see maybe 2 red in all four arcs, with an extra black on the flanks to represent the concussion missiles it packs. anti-fighter should be where the ship /really/ shines however, and giving it double blue in that area would be fitting, I think.

Of course, I'd also like it to have an Evade token and a Turbolaser upgrade slot, so that Imperials can have a TRC sniper too, but that's just be gravy. Points-wise, I'd ballpark it somewhere in the region of 50-55pts

With them putting Rebel stuff into Armada and X-Wing and the fact that after wave 4 we will be at an odd number of Medium and Large ships when compared to each faction, I fully expect wave 5 to have squadrons, a Rebel medium ship and an Imperial Large ship. We may even see an Imperial small ship if there is no large ship.

Another Imperial small ship would be a welcome addition for people who might not want to spam Raiders or Gladiators. Obviously we have the Flotillas, but well, they're not the same :P

I'm actually curious to understand how they designed the role of medium ships in the game compared to larger ones.

I'm just excited because I love the look of it LOL! And I don't play imps really

Carracks if i remember correctly were significantly slower than Lancers, and had a lot more firepower (turblolasers rather than laser cannons).

Lancer's weakness was slowness, not Carrack's.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lancer-class_frigate/Legends

The ship was also quite slow, allowing many fighters to simply outrun it.[2]

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Carrack-class_light_cruiser/Legends

Carrack's top speed is 80 MGLT, Lancer's is 20 MGLT.

So apparently, a ship identified as a Carrack class cruiser is in the new canon through the Tarkin and possibly Aftermath books.

What I would not at all be shocked by is if they took existing ship names and redesigned the ships they were attached to to get a better Star Wars feel out of them.

I would agree with that sentiment, Cactus....

Especially in cases - like the Carrack - where its just mentioned in Text, without any accompanying image or statement...

The only thing stopping LFL from basically taking these "Imperial light cruiser" images and drawings and making them the "Carrack Light Cruiser" would be the fan uproar...

.. that, and I think Pablo does know what he's doing with that Holocron, now and again, and wouldn't let such a huge change through without something else going on.

Problem is that all the ships that are VERY likely to come out next will all be "small" bases.

The Quasar, Arquittens, Hammerhead, and Pelta (All featured in rebels, so practically assured to come out soon) are all going to be small bases.

Unless they surprise us with new plastic sculpts from Rogue One, I think a possibility is that they might do the new Star Hawk class from the Life Debt book as a strong medium ship, and perhaps the Finalizer from Ep 7, as the Imperial Large Base.

Huh, I thought the Quasar (which I, aesthetically-speaking, don't really like the look of) would be at least a medium base. IIRC from the show, those hangar bays are not all that cramped, which they would have to be if the ship was small enough to be a small-base ship.

Small-base ships can be as much as 580-odd m long:

Medium base ships start at 700m long:

The Legends version of the Quasar Fire was 340m - not much longer than a Nebulon-B- which is Small:

and I'm pretty sure estimates from screenshots have gotten a similar length.

I just did a size estimate of my own, and I'm coming to the conclusion that you're right.

So I stand corrected.

Where is the Nebulon B2 artwork? If you are refering to the Adar Tallon hologram, that is an Assault Frigate MkI....

About the Arquitens size. When I did my estimation, comparing it to the several Venators it appeared with during Clone Wars I estimated 250m

Which will mean that it is shorter than the Nebulon B and larger than the Raider.
