would you buy official (painted) hero minis?

By Gray, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

after getting back into descent, I was pondering if I should paint the hero miniatures. however I like to have a copy of the miniature in case something goes horribly wrong, which then reminded me of the painted arkham horror figures FFG released a while back (and hopefully re-releases for EH at some point..?), so the question is:

- would you buy a box of unpainted hero minis, possibly covering several expansions?

- would you buy painted heroes like the ones for AH?

- if not, would you buy them if familiar etc. models would come with it? (unlikely, but there's always hope ;) ).

ofc it also depends on the price, and I'd expect them to be more on the expensive side if painted - asmodee wants to make money after all. maybe with enough feedback we could put it on their radar to even consider it.

EDIT: and it would be a great way to fix the size issue with the heroes.

I might, if the sculpts are new. Like, if the Syndrael mini was of her as a berserker with the two-handed axe and not a knight with sword and shield. I'd want them unpainted, though. I'd rather paint my own.

As someone that's painted their set.. I'd rather have my personal touches and figures that I can connect to rather than factory blasted prints..

However - Alternate Sculpts? there's a money maker!!

If you make a mistake while painting, you can alway cover the mistake by another layer of paint and (in the worst case) strip the figure from paint an start over again. I did that once with a monster group and there was no harm to the plastic.

Regarding pre-painted miniatures: no, I like to paint myself.

Even a quick paint job using base coating and dry brushing techniques which is fairly easy to do will look better than pre-painted miniatures. So i wouldnt want any releases to be painted. I also very much doubt they will resculpt a whole set of new poses for the game given the expense on moulding etc. Your best bet is just to buy a set of painted or unpainted hero miniatures off ebay or even buy a second core set and paint up in alternative colours. I find there is so much to buy and paint anyway with all the hero packs that i cant justify that myself. The good news is that Descent seems to be doing rather well since the app - if all the out of stocks are anything to go by. It may mean more content will keep coming.

Depending on price and painting job, It's pretty sure I will be !
