Next Skirmish Expansions

By Animewarsdude, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

So seeing as we got three named characters in the last skirmish expansion there is a chance we could see that happen again, so perhaps we might see a Force user group where the Rebels get Yoda, the Empire gets the Emperor, and the Scum faction gets Maul. Aside from adding memorable characters to the game this would also create a way to have these characters appear in only 1 mission rather than in a big or small expansion, meaning that the characters wouldn't affect the immersion of those stories.

The release pattern would be to get a big box expansion and about 3 associated figure expansions next, then a reinforcement wave of 2-3 figure packs.

I expect we hear something about the former at GenCon, but probably not about the latter, so there's good time to speculate.

Well I know we'd be getting a big box expansion and its corresponding ally and villain figures first, but I figure that after that when we get a named batch of figures they might go for a force user set like the ones I mentioned above.

I think if there's little said about IA at GenCon, that could be a sign that the next wave and box will be a Rogue One tie in, and FFG just aren't allowed to talk about it yet.

If not, then I expect a Jabba's Palace/Endor/ROTJ themed boxed expansion.

I'd be really surprised by a Rebels themed box, as you'd have thought that the Inquisitor would have been a major villain in the campaign and therefore one of the associated packs - but by that logic we won't ever see a Rebels box? Which itself seems unlikely...

Well, you could still see him as a token. But there's so many major villains from Rebels so far and allies that who knows what we'd get as for expansions.

I could see Agent Kallus as the big threat for Rebels box set. And then I could see the Sith assassins, Grand Moff Tarkin, Thrawn, who knows as the part of the expansion packs to follow.

I want Rebels or Rogue One.

I think having the next standalone expansions be Yoda/Palpatine/Jabba would be great. Can't wait for Yoda, first natural double white die character. Palpatine should be 13 points, that way Palp+Vader+Royal Guard would be 39 pts.

I kinda just like the Yoda/Palpatine/Maul set up for the big force users from each faction, though a leader wave of Mon Mothma/Palpatine/Jabba would be cool as well, even if Mon Mothma would basically just be a moving buff character. She could say have the ability to grant free rerolls, or focus every adjacent character next to her or something but would lack any real way to initiate combat herself.

and the Scum faction gets Maul.

Darth Maul? I'd think he'd be Empire, not Merc/Scum.

That said, I could see a new character devised who is a Merc Force User. God I'd love that. It could represent a force user somewhere DEEP in the gray zone, maybe she/he is on the way down to the dark side, maybe he/she is trying for redemption and clawing their way out of the pit. The Empire would execute the person as they do most force sensitives; the Rebel Alliance doesn't trust her/him.

Yup. I'd be all over that.

As he appears in Rebels he's definitely not pro empire. (Love your idea of a merc force user though, this is why I for one am not keen to see characters already in the universe).

[Clone Wars/Rebels Spoilers]

Maul became effectively the leader of Mandalore, led Death March as well as a number of other forces like the Black Sun during the end of the Clone Wars. After the Emperor kicked his butt and proceeded to kill his brother Maul decided to take down the Sith. In Rebels we see him taking the role of a manipulator trying to tempt Ezra. Here is a clip from the Season 2 finale:

It would be kind of cool if we say this temptation ability to some extent as an ability, perhaps having Maul in your squad allows you to bring along a low deployment cost, to represent weaker force users and to prevent him from bringing Luke or Obi-wan, Rebel or Imperial force user.

I'd like to see Garidan Scum Spy extrodinaire

Gamorean Guard Brawler/Guardians for Scum

Zuckuss/4-lom

Endor Big Box.

I'd like to see Garidan Scum Spy extrodinaire

Gamorean Guard Brawler/Guardians for Scum

Zuckuss/4-lom

Zuckuss and 4LOM are my most anticipated figure. I was happy when X-Wing released their ship as I thought there might be a chance to see them in IA. They has as much screen time as Bossk, Dengar, and IG-88.

Zuckuss can and probably will be the first Force sensitive in Scum

Well I imagine that we will get either Zuckuss and 4-Lom, or one of them, as villains in the next big expansion. So we should know which of the two or if both are being released together in the coming week or so.

Thanks. Skipped the spoiler clip, though. Literally just finished binge watching Season 1 today, so not quite there yet. ;)
