We see B1 Battle Droids in the new trailer for Season 3 of Rebels, so I wonder if we might end up seeing them make their way to this game then, and if such how do people look forward to that? I kind of think that Battle Droids would make for a nice swarm unit, say with four of them in a group but they have only say around 2 health and have a white defense die but can't use the evade. Just assuming that they would cost 6 points like standard trooper units that means that a player could have a maximum of 6 groups or 24 Battle Droids, with 4 points left over, which would provide a ton of fire power, though they would be ridiculously weak to Blast and Cleave, due to their low health and just having that many would mean at least some of them would have to be bunched up.
B1 Battle Droids
I personally wouldn't want to see them at all, but if someone said to make them. I'd make 3 of them on a single base with a white dice and 3 health. I wouldn't take away their evade, and I would give them 3 green hit dice with the caveat that the attacking unit can only roll as many attack dice as the unit has health. So, if the unit is down to 1 health, it can only roll 1 attack dice. Then I'd make the card have 2 units. So 2 units are simulating 6 droids. Maybe surge for accuracy and weaken or something. Possibly surge for 1 damage.
I like the "swarm" idea for the figure, but how would cleave or blast affect the figure?
It really is hard to call slow, human sized automatons a swarm unit.

Its not that they are slow that makes them a swarm unit, it is the fact that they are cheap to make so tons are built and as such they are a swarm unit. A matter of quantity over quality.

That's not what traditionally makes a swarm unit in RPG terms. Swarm units are killer insects and giant rats. It was supposed to be harder to hit them because there were so many. That is not the case with the 'roger rogers' they are slow and easy to hit, but they have large number of combined fire.
How about we just go with calling them a Horde unit then?

In RPG terms.
In wargaming terms a swarm is large numbers of generally ineffective units that rely on making lots of attacks to compensate for not having a very good attack. The TIE Swarm in x-wing, for example.
I don't think they should be a LOT worse than Stormtroopers. I mean yeah, they couldn't hit a thing and their armour was apparently entirely decorative, and that's just the Stormtroopers!
I think they're definitely coming though, as are Grevious's guard droids like on the Electrostaff card. I'm excited for both of those, but more so for the heavy battle droids and especially droidicas.
Personally, I would like it more to have a dedicated clone wars era set. I understand that the rebels or mercy MIGHT have dusted off some of the old tech to use, but there's plenty of stuff for the OT that has yet to be done, especially merc-wise. I love the prequels, don't get me wrong, but feel like battle droids just don't fit into the Empire era thematically. Don't do this half-a**ed, just do the whole clone wars era. Just my 2 cents.

This isn't a RPG....
