Precision Strike Objective vs. Medical Team

By itzSteve, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

A couple of questions:

The Medical Team cards says: "Before you are dealt a faceup damage card with the CREW trait, you may discard this card to discard that damage card."

1.) If I am playing the Precision Strike Objective, could this card prevent the attacker from gaining a victory token from the CREW faceup damage card I pull from the damage deck?

2.) If I have to flip an existing card from facedown to faceup, can I use the card to discard the new CREW faceup damage card, and also possibly prevent a victory token?

1) Yes because they did not deal a face up damage card

2) No, you were not dealt the card, it was a preexisting malady that just chose to resurface at that time.

Rules Reference Guide page 4 under Damage

• When a ship suffers damage, it suffers that damage one point at a time. For each point, reduce the shields in the defending hull zone by one. If the defending hull zone has no shields to lose, deal a facedown damage card to the ship instead.

Just like Bowden's Malady, except not in the wrong franchise.

You can manage the symptoms with Pascaline-D, if I recall correctly...
