2 Player Draft Rules

By ChanceRiley, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

I have come up with rules to draft Imperial Assault Skirmish, and all it takes is one core set for every two players. The rules are loosely based around "The Arena" from Hearthstone.

Step One: Organize all Deployment Cards by Faction into three distinct decks per core set, make sure to remove all Temporary Alliance cards from these decks. They are not used in this format. Players will then take turns choosing a faction to build their deck from, with each player only choosing one deck of deployment cards.

Step Two: Seperate command cards into three decks. The first deck is for zero cost cards. Each player will get a core starter of zero cost. The second deck is for faction and character specific command cards. The remainder of the cards will form the draft pool. Shuffle that deck.

Step Three: Each player will draw three cards off the top of the draft pool. Then pick one, keep that card and add it to your pool. The other two cards will go to a global face down discard pile, obviously seperated from the draft pool, and shared by all involved players. This process is repeated until it is impossible to give each involved player three cards in a single round.

Step Four: Take one collection of objective cards, no duplicates, and shuffle them together. Deal them out in pairs, face down in a central area. Each round, every involved player will take one pair of cards, pick one for their objective deck, and one to be discarded from the draft. Repeat this until all involved players cannot evenly participate, similarly to the command card draft.

Step Five: Deckbuild. Look through command and deployment cards in your pool as normal. Deckbuilding can be private or public depending on your groups choice. Make a standard 40-15 point list using the components that you drafted.

Step Six: Pair up, and play. You can use these rules for tournament or single game play.

It seems like a fun way to build teams.

I'll have to try it sometime.

Thanks for sharing the idea!
