Cause arc dodging scum ace. We wants it...we NEEDS it precious.
What excites you about wave 9?
But ARE the Protectorate Starfighters really arc dodgers? Don't the pilot abilities and upgrades reward you for blindly charging head on into combat?
Because that's how it read on the announcement article...
Nothing much. I'll buy one TIE/sf but that's about it (I only play Imperials so far). But that's OK, Imperial Veterans was an exciting release, not everything can be a home run.

Ah, the magic of having choices
Nothing.
Except dat Tie/SF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Smell the awesomeness.
Smells like...victory?
Hard to tell with Backdraft
Edited by ficklegreendiceYeeeeeeah! Smell that backdraft.
...er...
Honestly everything excites me for different reasons.
They all seem like great additions to the game.

That's what I took from the article as well.
Everything in wave 9 looks interesting to very fun. Love the Aux arc focus.

They are jousters. Look very fun!
At least it'll finally give me enough Tech upgrades for all my FO ships. I can put the 4 Collision Detectors on my TIE/fos, then put the two Comm Relays from my /FOs onto the /SFs.
Did we mix em up or are we trolling the opponent with illegal and useless upgrades, respectively
?
I mixed em up. I meant Sensor Clusters, not Collision Detectors. Would Comm Relays be useless on a TIE/sf?
Edit: Oh, SF doesn't have the Evade action. I see.

Yeah but the sf is a bunt.

Give it to me now. In fact, give me at least three.
Everything.
I don't really understand the mentality of not being excited for or disappointed by stuff in the new waves. Sure, it may not be exactly what you personally want, but it's still new content for the game we love. Awesome new models, interesting new pilot abilities, new upgrades. If nothing else, we will see an inevitable shift in the meta and what the 'popular' lists are, as that happens with every new wave almost without fail.
Who cares if you'd rather have seen the Gunboat, or the TIE/SF dial isn't what you expected, or if a particular astromech upgrade isn't quite as good as you hoped it would be? These are all minor complaints, and pale to insignificance next to the fact that we are getting more goodies that will increase the diversity of this wonderful game.

In my case, it's that I am finding it hard to find the parts that I have bolded in your text.
Other than the ARC-170 model, that is quite cool looking, the other 3 models aren't exactly of my taste:
- The two scum ships... I will not say that "they don't feel Star Wars" because that is the single most overused sentence in these forums. They just don't seem to match the rest of the models in the game. They come from Rebels, a series that tries to follow a streamlined aesthetics that try to be like McQuarrie's concept art. That is fine, except for the fact that the rest of the models in this game don't follow that style. Look at the Millenium Falcon. It is full of little details and grebbles. Then look at the Shadowcaster. It looks like a toy.
- The TIE/sf does totally look like a TIE/fo. It's not new, not a daring design, has absolutely no "Wow factor". It's not FFG's fault here. Just the general direction chosen by the new powers that be behind Star Wars. Also, most TIE lovers have expressed their disappointment with what seems to be more an X-Wing than a TIE fighter, in game terms.
- And even when I like the model of the ARC-170, it doesn't bring anything radical to the table. The K-Wing brought SLAM and cool new bombs, torpedoes and turrets. The Ghost and Phantom brought the cool docking mechanic, and endless new crew options and pilots. The ARC-170 brings... auxiliary arc. Something introduced during Wave 2.
Arc also brings an action torpedo. Wont know how much thatll actually matter until we see what exactly it does, but it IS new
I am excited that my scum fleet will have another butt ugly ship addition aka Shadowcaster. That motley crew really start to look scummy!
Wave 9 in hand means Waves 10 and 11 are that much closer to being revealed!
I'm looking to get 2 ARCs, 2 SF, and 2 Fangs. Shadow Caster is a no-go for me unless I absolutely have to get the upgrades it contains (hate the look of the USS Defiant from Star Trek on a Scum ship).
ARC-170: Ship itself is pretty meh for me, but since I don't have any B-wings I suppose I'll use it as a heavy fighter for my Rebels. More interested in the Vector Thrusters and other upgrades for my Scum squads.
TIE/sf: Looking forward to this one quite a bit. Interesting little ships- similar to a Defender in both hp and dial. Should make a nice addition.
Protectorate: First off, gonna keep calling them Fang fighters, much easier and sounds deadly. I really want to see the dial, hopefully this will be the Scum small ship with the best Interceptor-style dial.
I've got a real wall this current wave in my enjoyment of lists. Trying to build a list with all the facts in mind has been very tough, the Ghost has provided the best play experience so far in Wave 8 for myself. I really hope with Wave 9 something clicks, and I feel it already has. I love playing with Boba, I've had read Arc training for 4 waves now, I know the subtleties to it and I know it's gonna transfer to the Tie/SF and ARC. The Arc really excites me as a stress cannon, which I live and want more of, and the SF might bring me back to Imps

Really betting we see Wave 10 at GenCon. And another announcement, but that's harder to peg. Too early for Rogue One ships, but maybe the rumors of a Scum Epic or Aces will pan out.
Rear Arc small based ships = Amazing. Think of all the out-playing capabilities there are with rear arcs! Thats gonna be pretty fun to play with, but I know is tough to be excited for until you actually get it on the table.

The ships themselves don't seem super OP because their statline are balanced around the capabilities of the aux arc
Aux arcs which only the spray has (yav's don't face backwards) on 4 TIMES the base size which makes it far more difficult to manuever
Add on native barrel roll or VT or bb8 and we could be in for fun times
