What excites you about wave 9?

By Chief Hugh, in X-Wing

Nothing in wave 9 looks appealing to me. In my opinion, all of those ships are competing for spots where others ships within their faction do it better. For example, for the point cost of the SF TIE fighter, I would rather spend those points on a real ace or defender.

So what gets you over the top excited in wave 9?

New firing arc mechanic on the Shadow Caster.

I think the ships previewed thus far in Wave 9 are un-exciting because this is a back to the basics wave. I believe this wave will produce solid ships/combos but nothing truly groundbreaking like we are used to in previous waves. That said, I am excited to play with the new ships. Personally I think the Fang Fighter will be the winner of the wave.

******* hell yeah!

also "back to basics" is some bull marketing blurb

the Shadowcaster is like nothing ever released in the game before AND it comes with a never before seen obstacle farting upgrade (also two illicit slots). nothing basic about it, or the small base aux arcs (the rebel one of which doubles as a bb-8 arc dodger, a stress dealer or a regenerating tank)

only the pfighter is "basic", and even that little guy comes with t-rolls

Fenn Rau.

And everything else. Everything. Except the TIE/SF.

I'm really looking forward to the new Scum ships. Especially the Protectorate Fighter. It looks like fun.

I'm not much of a Rebel player but the ARC-170 is an awesome model and looks like it'll be fun to play with list ideas.

The Tie/SF I'm not sold on yet but I love the idea.

I'm excited for the wave, lots of knew toys to try out!

Edit: Also, Fenn Rau.

I'm not a Scum or Imperial player, so the Scum ships don't have much of a draw, but I'll likely get a couple each of the ARC and TIE/sf for the upgrades if naught else. The ARC-170 is a beautiful thing, though.

SF is a neat new role for imps.

Everything!!! It is more awesome plastic spaceships. I think they are going to have a harder time making things that don't excite me, but one could argue that I'm easy.

I'm excited about the TIE S/F: an Imperial X-Wing with a rear arc.

I'm excited about the ARC-170. It's the best of Prequel ships. Also it's got some interesting upgrade options.

I'm excited about the Fang Fighter. An in-your-face murder ship that can arc dodger with the best.

I'm excited about the Shadow Caster. It looks like the Defiant. It has an interesting new mechanic. It has Sabine.

Note difference between this and last wave could be due to meta

The Wave 7 meta, apart from errant TLTs, seemed pretty wide open. Wave 8 is sandwiched between palp aces and jm5ks

With two very stark pillars to go between, I can see why people wouldnt be excited

The poor ARC will be mulched by torp scouts. The poor SF doesn't stack against the easy bull of palp aces

But damnit the arc's too sexy looking and neither it nor the SF will play like anything else in the game and so I'm looking forward to them

The unknown. Once it's all spoiled we have 2 months of everyone bitching how this or that is disappointing etc and by the time you get the physical ships, the new is already worn off.

Mostly the scum stuff for me. I love the look of the Fang fighter...the Shadowcaster has me intrigued as well, but I dunno what to make of it just yet. I am more eager to learn what it does, and just eager to have a pair of those Fang fighters...might paint them up in Bossk's colors like my Khiraxz fighters, that way I can get a whole gang of space lizard thugs in matching colors.

ARC

Wave 8 I was hesitant about, but wave 9 just doesn't seem terribly interesting to me. I was never really a fan of the ARC, and the TIE/sf is just a TIE/fo with a few extra greebles. I know gameplay wise different, but yet another "standard" TIE holds no interest to me.

The Fang is about the only thing I might really look at, even though I dont really play Scum, but the moveable firing arc just seems a little too convoluted for me on the yet another Scum large ship.

The Fang for sure, assuming the dial is decent and allows the use of PTL. They need an arc dodger.

Scum have nothing like the Fang Fighter. The only thing close is Guri who puts a solid dent into your lists' point total. Needless to say I can't wait for that ship!

I'll be buying anywhere from 2-5 Fang Fighters depending how the generics end up. And I'm looking forward to tractor shenanigans with ketsu with the title

I've already preordered 3 Protectorate fighters, 2 ARCs and 2 SFs. Not really enthusiastic for another large based Scum ship. I'm sure I'll snag the Shadow Caster, eventually, but it can wait. (I still have only one Aggressor, and no Jumpmaster, so that may say something...)

I'm loving the idea of fielding a Mandalorian squad, using the SF to add to my First Order options, and adding aux arcs to small ships in general.

Bring on Wave 9 (please allow 4-6 months for the boat to cross the ocean; FFG not responsible for orders sucked into wormholes).

I like each ship equally. I'm not "over the top" excited about any of the ships. I am not a robot.

Im excited for that new tech upgrade and R-THREE WHAT WHAT!!!

What exites me about wave 9?

..the promished U boat counter.

..both the Arc and the Fang are sexy as ****.

..the fun of flying 4 "mini firesprays" with hard 1 turns into the furball.

..new plastic to feed my addiction

After having seen all of the new models in person, I have to say I was a little disappointed in the Fang. It seemed a little flat and lacking in detail compared to the other models in this wave. However, I am looking forward to FFG telling me whether I am going to be buying 4 or 5 of them this Monday morning.

Everyone assuming the fang dial will allow PTL and I'm just sitting here waitin for FFG to say a talon toll makes an arc dodger -_-

Fenn Rau clearly best of breed.

I'll fly him until the starviper is fixed.

I want to see starviper squads square off against tie defenders in tournaments.
