So will the new squadrons be tournament legal or in campaign only?

By Marinealver, in Star Wars: Armada

So looking at the Corellian Conflict can't help but notice something.

So question will these be playable in toruneys? Also is the campaign the only way to get this squadron cards?

They will be playable

"Best yet, because all these squadrons and objectives are all fully tournament-legal, they are destined to impact all your games, not just those in The Corellian Conflict!"

Seems like this will be the only way to get them.

Though, since it looks like each box only furnishes one campaign, we might have a surplus of these cards floating around at some point.

Yep, they're designed to be compatible.

But they're also Unique, so you won't see masses of them.\

Yes, the campaign will be the only way to get the Squadron Card....

And the Associated Squadron Disc...

But you'll have to swap out with a Base and Models you already own.

Duh silly me, but what about the new Ace? Will there be more squadron expansions or do you need the campaign?

How do you know they're unique?

The dot in the card title indicates that a card is unique, whether its a ship title, an upgrade, or a squadron.

Can only take one of that particular card in a list.

THE BLACK SPOT

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Think of this campaign like X-Wing's Imperial/Rebel Veteran expansions. They are all legal (except campaign cards) and they will be the only place to get these sets.

So 3/3 have the black spot the other 13 are wait and see or did I miss something vital in the article?

They're all Unique, the one's that aren't named aces are veteran squadrons of renown, like Rogue Squadron for Rebels and I'm guessing the 181st (Soontir Fel's squadron) for the Imperials.

I did wonder how they were going to get more squadron cards into the game without doing separate card packs, there wan't exactly a wide range even with the fighter packs, now we know.

Wonder if they will do the same for named ships. Fingers crossed there are a few in the box that they haven't mentioned in article.

Black squadron is completely hilarious!

Black squadron needs a Jan like partner.......

We've seen the actual, apparently finalized, box art. While I'd love some additional titles (Chimera in particular, I'm a Thrawn fanboy since grade school) I'd also like to see a few other improvements, like upgrades to improve VSD maneuverability. Ultimately, this set at least won't include ship upgrades, as none are listed on the box.

These sorts of big upgrades came in X-Wing through specialist ships which would come with a token ship and upgrades to improve it... in quadruplicate. In Armada, these campaigns would be an excellent low-cost way to improve ships and squadrons without a huge overhead or forcing players to buy $100 ships they don't want or can't use in normal games.

So no models. Does this mean Armada has a card only expansion?
