I am sad about the original named squadrons

By Lord Ashram, in Star Wars: Armada

Example:

Would you pay:

16 pts for a Rogue Tycho?

17?

18?

19?

20?

Etc.

Would it be worth 4 pts to have a Speed 5 scatter squadron that can zip about, unhindered? Maybe, maybe not.

IG88 is 21 points with speed 5, 4 blue AS dice, black battery die, 5 hull and scatter that completely ignored defensive abilities.

20 points for an A-Wing that can't be locked down is fine.

So comparing Tyco and IG-88.

Tyco IG-88

Speed 5 5

Hull 4 5

AA 3 Blue 4 Blue

AS 1 Black 1 Black

Specials Counter 2 Counter 2

(Rogue) added for this Rogue

Unique Not prevented from moving or attacking ships when engaged Ignore keyword Escort and Counter on enemy squadrons

Tokens Scatter Scatter

Brace

Points 16 (20 for sake of argument with Rogue) 21

So speed is the same, IG-88 does a bit more (1 blue die) damage, and can take one more hit. But Tyco I think is the tougher one of the two actually. IG with only one token and most squadrons having blue die for anti-squadron it is likely that they will get at least one accuracy (I know I can almost never use my scatter). This still leaves Tyco with his brace, I would ignore the unique abilities as both are good, and so think they are about equal in points value. Right now I would say that Tyco should cost more than IG, but in full disclosure I am mostly an Imperial player, and I think that most of the Rebel fighters are under pointed as is (or the Empire ones are over pointed depending on how you look at it).

Rogue this. . . Rogue that. . . It is not everything! Not every squadron needs Rogue.

If you run into Konstantine: you'll want only navs most likely...how much is rogue worth now?

Probably not so much after I park my bwings in front of imperial medium sized ships.

*my speed 3 B-wings that I pushed with FCT.

:)

Whilst Mauler, Soontir and Dengar royally screw with you and meant fct didnt work....

Why are you sad about ye olde named squadrons ? If you bring them at your local table, proudly wear a moustache and monocle and enjoy the vintage !

Simple answer is that Ace X wings can pick up Rogue, but they have to drop escort to do it. As a rogue, not following order from carries they cant be in position to defend other ships. Maybe Rogue Tycho loses counter as he is not being put in place for the counter attack by a carrier. Y wing, just add the point value, there's not much to take away from an Y wing

Rogue Wedge and Rogue Luke would be extreme !

I actually find that my "ace" squadrons don't really find rouge as useful as the ones I spam. If I only need to worry about activating a few ships I don't mind the squadron commands, but if I need to activate a lot I need to put squaderon commands I high command value ships which basically means I have to totally spam squadrons dials to be effective.

More like speed 3.5 b-wings which players I played against with already said my list OP now.

If you want to price out abilities in role playing fashion then just simply add them as veteran options you can acquire in a campaign system.

I think people are missing the OP's main point, which was

OMG SWEET CANDY MODELS!
