Spamming Hired Guns seems very effective.

By ParaGoomba Slayer, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I played a list that was:

4x Hired Gun

Elite Hired Gun

Greedo

Bossk

The Card that allows you to have C-3PO and Gideon

C-3PO

Gideon

And it kicked ass. Greedo does some serious work with focus. When he initially attacks he's focused, then later in the game when he's damaged you can focus him again because even if he dies he gets to fire off a focused shot.

Bossk is also nuts with focus. Green green red plus an innate +2 damage is insane.

I also have 5 squads of Hired Guns. Parting shot does so much work, you don't have to parting shot the thing that attacked you, so you can rush the figure you actually want to kill, and if his buddies try to pick off the hired huns at a distance in order to get out of range of their horribly inaccurate shot, you just attack the thing at range 1-3 of you with parting shot.

Bossk can indiscriminately fire and kill off Hired Guns in order to trigger parting shot. Sometimes you need that burst damage.

I have 9 activations and 14 figures. That seems pretty good.

regular Hired Guns are bad against the trooper meta right now because they have issues getting enough range for their parting shot. If the trooper player positons reasonably well, you won't get much out of your figures and lose to terminal control, Reinforcements and grenades. It's a fun list, no doubt, but I haven't seen it work well yet.

Might be worth it to sack one of the rHGs for 4x Last Resort. One on each group. That should help deal with swarms, along with Bossk. :)

where did you get all those hired guns ? or were you just proxying? Ive got a list with 5 nexu I've wanted to try, but haven't got around to it. I did play 4 wampas and a nexu once. I took wookie warriors and gideon to grab objectives and threw in something else, it actually worked kind of.

about hired guns

I have missed so many parting shots, and 3 health (or 4) on a white die will a lot of times lose you a guy a shot. I'd play it 5 more times and see if you still like the list

I've also found Hired Gun spam to be super fun. It's not the strongest build but you can really include a ton of models.

Also I may have bought 6 sets of hired guns.

I like scum...

I LOVE Hired Guns, especially in the Campaign where you have super Rebels killing guys in one shot.

But yeah, that list looks good. Bossk, Gideon and C3PO seem to be worth more than their points.

Bossk is super good. He seems to be very undercosted in order to make up for the other bounty hunters that are too expensive, although Dengar seems useful if you can stack him with a bunch of trooper units and apply a harmful condition to a crucial unit. Bossk is well worth 8 or 9 points, so he seems like an autoinclude for Imperial lists too.

You kind of have to treat the Hired Guns as melee units. There were times where I used both of my actions to move 10 spaces and mob something. The key thing about Parting Shot is that you're not required to parting shot against the thing that killed you, it can just be anything. So if you surround a valuable figure with Hired Guns, they can kill off what you surrounded even if killed from a distance by something else.

You can also just double move with focused Greedo and grab an early terminal. He's a pretty strong threat with focus and he's only 4 points.

I'm playing 4 player skirmish tomorrow, I might a modified list of these. I only have two sets of HGs, so I'm thinking this:

8 - Bossk

4 - Hired Guns

4 - Hired Guns

4 - Greedo

7 - Trandoshan Hunters

6 - Wing Guards

1 - Headhunter

1 - Temporary Alliance

3 - Gideon

2 - C3PO

Undecided if I want to use Headhunter on Bossk or the Trandoshan Hunters.

Or I may just play with the Inquisitor or Obi-Wan because they're cool.

You can't indiscriminate fire your own dudes with Bossk right? Doesn't it say all hostile figures on or adjacent take damage? Not all figures?

You can and must. Indiscriminate fire is an area effect, there is no qualifier for friendly or hostile. All figures on or adjacent to the target space are affected, whether friendly or hostile.

So I've improved the list.

We've dropped the elite hired gun squad. They're not worth the 2 point jump over the regular ones.

This gives us 6 whole points to play with. That means the 4 remaining Hired Guns get Last Resort. Greedo gets Last Resort, and Bossk gets Prey on the Weak.

This seems pretty solid. Have seen success with a very similar list in the past, and Bossk with Prey on the Weak can almost always deal damage, from an impressive range. Just don't get too aggressive with him. Regeneration can't help you if he gets cleared the first turn.

The way I play him, he ends up getting 3-4 damage put on him, which is meaningless because Bossk regenerates. I seem to get lucky with my Command card draws, I tend to get Bossk's Command Card early. Although with my initial 3 draw, turn 1 draw, and a terminal, there is a 1/3rd chance of getting it. Plus, I have devotion for C-3PO so that can be used to grab Bossk's command card.

You can only have 4x Last Resort. It's a non-Elite deployment card.

I thought that since it was an attachment, it was exempt from the limit. Either way it's not that big of a deal, probably best to drop one Last Resort for Devious Scheme anyways.
