Target has core sets for 20 and in some areas 11.99, great time to jump in.

March 2013. Hothie sent me a core and one of each expansion from wave two to me while I was in Afghanistan. Been playing ever since.
Since the game's release in 2012.
Received the Base and a few expansions for Christmas in 2014. Attended my first event in Jan of '15.
Wave 2. I saw the Falcon and Salve I and knew I was doomed.... lol
Happy Friday!
When did I start? It was Jan. of 2013. The game had been out for a few months and I heard great things about it, but I was already into WHFB and didn't need a new game I didn't have time for. I went to a tournament in SC and lost every game that day. After it was over, a friend pulled out the starter set. He played Luke w/ R2-D2 and I played 2 generic Tie Fighters. I killed Luke in 5 turns! I was hooked. I ended up losing every game at the tournament the next day and just got fed up with WHFB. I started collecting X-wing after that. I won or came in top 3 for every event I played in in the early days.
Last night was a lot of fun at the game store. We had 3 of us show up about the same time and decided to play a 3 way fight. I also convinced them to play with 20 asteroids/debris on the table. Just as we were getting set up, a 4th showed up and we threw him in the last corner. It was a hoot to play with so many enemy on such a crazy table. We counted up the total number of obstacles hit in the game and I think it was up to 15.
Followed this game since the announcement in 2011 and jumped in as soon as it was released after GenCon in 2012.

As I said in that Thread:
"What's a Target?"
(Since there are no Target stores in Canada anymore.....)
Played a couple games of x-wing when the original core came out. However, it was really when wave 4 came out that the addiction really began. Tie swarm soon became my list of choice (mostly because it was impossible to find a tie interceptor for fel at the time, love my interceptors). Been hooked to this game ever since.

Wait I thought people hunt moose.......
I wouldn't know.
I'm Actually Australian.
I'm just stuck here...
Since Wave 1, and then took a long time off due to losing my player base.
But a new FLGS opened right around wave 7, so since then I guess. Pew Pew Pew
4-5 months ago. I picked up the gamestyle rather quick though since ive played tabletops for quite some time.
Tbh the primary thing i had to get used to was judging distances. The templates are not based on inches so i found it difficult to eyeball things. Other than that it was just learning the dials of my opponents so i could predict lol
Got a HWK from my folks thinking "bingo - I can now justify buying the base set". Later I receive several expansions from my wife and brother in law; still no base set. I was surrounded by plastic crack... and no ability to play.
20 minutes later with much laughter my wife brakes out the base set.
Turns out the brother in law did the research and shopping. Funny, he bought even more for himself.

Little did she know that she was enabling you in your addiction!
I may have joined this forum before I played my first game but that means at least April of this year for when I actually played my first game.
I thought I'd gotten over plastic crack but selling Hero Clix actually put money in my eBay account, which funded my two Kihraxz fighters and a bunch of cards.
About 24 hours before my user profile was created!
Happy Friday Cubanboy!

Similar story here. Hero Clix (I was playing that on launch day) and Magic burnt me out. Wave 1 came and went and I wanted nothing to do with the craptastic miniature experience I had finally rid myself of. Then, I found out how much money I could get in store credit if I sold off all my Hero Clix and Magic stuff. Wave 2 had recently hit the shelf when I bought my Core set. I now own at least 2 of everything and I haven't actually paid for any X-wing stuff until Wave 8!!!

Or what's left of it, mine is almost over.
And may all Germans be safe today.

Sometimes she has regrets. On the other hand, the spare bedroom was finally turned into a second office (read game room with the random acquisition of a 36' x 36' table with slide-out eaves perfect for lists, templates etc).
Edited by Cr0akerI think it was in 1993, back then i started as a co-pilot, my brother did the flying and i did all the keyboard commands.

I did that with my dad. And people wonder why there is so much nostalgia for those games...
I started right before the release of wave 3, I remember seeing the bwing and the lambda shuttle in a copy of game trader magazine my old FLGS had lying around, I had heard about the game before, but after getting to see images of the actual models I knew I had to start playing!
Tail end of wave three during the great interceptor drout, a hard time for the Empire.
I started just after the great Phantom debate resulted in a rework of the Decloak mechanic.
Now own every ship between my fiancée and I and one of each Epic ship!
The addiction is real!
