Give the Firespray a Turret Slot

By CBMarkham, in X-Wing

I was always convinced the Firespray was close to being a competitive ship (at least when using the Scum pilots. Sorry Imperials), but the blind spots are just really problematic. Having seen the Ghost in action, I'm doubly convinced that the Firespray can be brought back into the fold by simply introducing a Firespray only upgrade which converts their missile slot to a turret slot.

Autoblaster Turret is the best supplementary weapon in the game. Allowing a Firespray to equip an Autoblaster Turret at the cost of 2pts to help shore up a little bit of the blind spots and also give them an effective tool against Imperial Aces...well, it's the thing that'd bring all the Firesprays to the high end tournament tables.

Can we make this happen please? Just a little turret. That's all I want.

Kthx.

Edit: Fine. This is a horrible idea. PS10 Scum Boba Fett with an Autoblaster Turret would be bonkers, and I'm a horrible human being for having suggested it. I admit it. I just want a broken Boba Fett. Apologies to all who spent time reading this post instead of something with merit.

No.

double Agreed.

I use firesprays here and there, Imp Aces are tough but they aren't invincible.

What they said.

So say we all.

Yeah, boba fett with autoblaster turret is stupid broken.

...I know. I want it. Give it to me.

Too much? ...pfft, fine.

How about a missile card that gives you one re-use of a [discarded] illicit upgrade - kinda like Extra Munitions, so you could use Hot Shot Blaster twice ?

Yes, expensive and limited...but you're NEVER gonna get anyone to agree to a turret ;)

Second crew slot instead of the missile and bomb slots wouldn't hurt. It's got plenty of room inside.

If there's a way to make super-defence suffer, it's a good idea

even if it's a bad bad game design.

Ghost is "what Firespray wants to be" acutally.
But maybe there can be other ways to make FS a better ship.

The Firespray probably should have had three crew slots. Have you seen how large its command center is?

It should seat 5 people but going 1:1 with seat space and crew slots is a bad idea. 2 would be good. It would force you to make decisions. 3 like the Party Bus would be a bit much with arcs facing both ways and a good dial.

Eh not sure about 3 crew but 2 would make sense.

Decimator is the only one that has 3 crew slots, everything else that "should" has something else instead. Heck the Huge Ships should have like 6 crew but they gave us crappy "Teams" instead lol

Yep

Actually, yeah. Second crew slot is probably a way better idea. Helps the Imperial and Scum version quite a bit, without the absurdity of PS10 Autblaster Turret Boba.

... but I really want that Boba, though.

Hot Shot Blaster!

There's your turret.

Problem solved.

My biggest problem is . . . well, Firespray's don't have turrets.

I like game balance, but it shouldn't flat-out ignore the Star Wars lore. (Yes, I know there's plenty of things out there that don't REALLY make sense, but at least all the ships are relatively true to what they should be).

as long as it's a one-use and not "ACTION" header

it's an overpriced garbage of a card

You would end up with Palp on a Firespray!!!!

You would end up with Palp on a Firespray!!!!

At which point you've paid at least 12 points for one extra green die, a PS1 bump, a rear arc and a dial that actually lets you get things in that arc. But now your Palp-Mobile is at least 42 points and you probably can't run him along with two aces, thus keeping the universe in balance.

Probably fine.

You may use the maneuvering dial of a G-1A Starfighter instead of a Firespray maneuvering dial.

The firespray needs a little something to bring it up to par but I don't think a turret slot is the answer. I think either a second crew slot or maybe a system slot would be a better.
