Corellian Conflict Squads

By ianediger, in Star Wars: Armada

With all of us waiting for FFG to formally announce the new campaign, let's have a little fun. Assuming new pilots for the 6 wave 1 squads that don't have multiple pilots ( Y, A, B, Int, Bomber, Adv), who would you like to see pilot what, and what is their special ability? For example, Cienna Ree flying the TIE Int, and special ability of all squads within distance 1 loose 1 speed.

Have fun!

Reserved for wave 2 squads...

I would love to see a squad with "Enemy squadrons you are engaged with have a maximum speed of 1."

A sort of counter intel? Interesting Bleezy.

I can't think of any great ideas for abilities, but I'd love to see me some certain pilots added in;

Wes Janson X-Wing

Horton Salm Y-Wing

Pash Cracken A-Wing (Father-Son Unleash the Cracken lists)

Lando Millenium Falcon

I dont care about the imperial named pilots, because the only one I ever did care about is already in.

Maybe Corran? He is Corellian, a fan favorite, and an accomplished fighter pilot. They have already tapped the two most famous Corellians, Wedge and Han.

Maarek Stele in a TIE Adv (duh!).

Ciena Ree in a TIE Int (chick pilot).

Captain Jonus in a TIE Bomber (I remember him the SW CCG).

Pops in Y-wing (Gold 2 at DS is because)

Ten Numb in B-wing (non-human and cool guy)

Arvel Crynyd in A-wing (cuz he killed Executor!)

Maybe Corran? He is Corellian, a fan favorite, and an accomplished fighter pilot. They have already tapped the two most famous Corellians, Wedge and Han.

Would be happy to see Corran but we may need him re-cannonized.

There's lots of EU characters so I'm just going to assume you can plug in whoever you like for each ace squadron. Assume base stats for each squadron type unless specified otherwise.

X-Wing ace

+ 1 Brace, 1 Scatter

+ Counter 2

Pretty straightforward. Luke is an X-Wing more focused on bombing. Wedge is an X-Wing more focused on dogfighting. This is an X-Wing more focused on Escort due to Counter 2 and Scatter.

Y-Wing ace

+2 Braces

+ anti-ship battery becomes 2 blue dice rather than one black

+Crit: The hull zone (Y-Wing ace) is attacking loses one shield point

Dutch is a Y-Wing more focused on dogfighting, this guy is a Y-Wing more focused on attacking capital ships with a bit of that ion cannon flair.

A-Wing ace

+1 Brace, 1 Scatter

+ Friendly squadrons attacking enemy squadrons engaged by (A-Wing ace) may reroll one of their attack dice.

Continuing the A-Wing harassment theme, Tycho can get to really annoying places to harass people by himself, this guy is an A-Wing that gives out fake Swarm when he gets to a central location and his friends pile in.

B-Wing ace

+2 Braces

+ 1 blue dice anti-squadron battery

+ Friendly squadrons at distance 1 that make an attack that deals damage to an enemy squadron or ship may make a speed 1 move if they are not engaged at the completion of that attack.

Keyan is a super bomber B-Wing. This fellow helps his B-Wing buddies keep up. Note the ability is better for bombing than for dogfighting, as you'll typically still be engaged in a furball even after dealing damage to enemy squadrons, but when bombing enemy ships, you often won't be (if you did it right/the opponent was reckless).

Moving on to Imperial squadrons...

TIE Fighter ace

+1 Scatter, +1 Brace

+ Black anti-ship dice replaces the blue anti-ship dice

+ Friendly non-Bomber squadrons with the Swarm ability that attack an enemy ship at range 1 of (TIE FIghter ace) may reroll one of their attack dice.

Howlrunner buffs other Swarm TIEs and Mauler Mithel is a one-man wrecking ball. This TIE ace helps out your TIE Fighters/Interceptors when you're done beating up on enemy squadrons by proccing fake Swarm against ships. Your TIEs still aren't great at that particular job, but it takes them from 50% chance of 1 damage to 75% chance.

TIE Advanced ace

+ 2 Braces

+ When a friendly or enemy squadron at distance 1 is destroyed, (TIE Advanced ace) may restore 1 hull point if possible.

Darth Vader's TIE Advanced is pure beatdown. This TIE Advanced ace is more focused on being a meat shield. He regenerates from friendlies destroying enemies near him and from enemies getting outside of his Escort range but still blowing up his buddies.

TIE Bomber ace

+2 Braces

+When (TIE Bomber ace) attacks an enemy ship and there are no other squadrons (friendly or enemy) at distance 1, you may add a dice of any color to your attack pool.

For when you want to blow up ships but you don't want to buff Rhymer any more ;). This guy likes flying solo, so get him there and he'll reward you.

Tie Interceptor ace

+2 Scatters

+Counter 3 rather than 2

Soontir Fel has a place in a few combos, mostly built around Escort. He strongly encourages you to attack him... or else. This Interceptor ace is more straightforward - just an extremely persistent TIE Interceptor that kind of nudges your opponent into maybe just bothering with something less zippy and annoying.

Scatter and counter 2 on an Xwing?

Give me Biggs Darklighter with Scatter and brace with special ability along the lines of "any engaged enemy squadrons must attack Biggs regardless of Intel, heavy, or escort abilities"

Honestly, if it is just for a campaign. It might be fun to bring in the white defense die from Imperial Assault for named squadrons.

0tBM6Ex.png

1. no effect

2. Reduce incoming damage by one

3.???? no clue (in IA this reduces surges)

4 and 5. Reduce damage by one and ????

6. same effect as the scatter defense token.

I think the Objectives, Cards and the Tokens that are included in the campaign will be compatible with the standard tournament game... So anything outside of the campaign mechanism is probably a no-no to be too crazy...

I mean, we don't know - they might add something crazy...

But I think if they're going to include a Ciena Ree Interceptor Card + Token in the campaign, I'm pretty sure She'll be Balanced for Regular, Everyday Gameplay.

Snip how is it up there in the clouds? Lol ;)

limit 2 Rogue squadron x-wings? (maybe as simple as red goes to black die, 1 brace, +2 pts)

Biggs Darklighter - X-Wing

Escort

Bomber

Any squadron at distance 1 may transfer all damage dealt to Biggs before taking damage.

Brace / Brace

16 Points

Edited by WhatsArmadaWithYou

I feel like a named rebel fighter with escort and scatter in a rieekan fleet would have to be like 30 pts.

Oh, and if we're going to see Cienna Ree, we may see Poe Dameron's mother, Shara Bey, who flew an A-Wing during the attack on the 2nd Death Star.

Shara Bey - A-Wing

Escort

Counter 2

Scatter / Scatter

18 Points

181st Fighter Wing - Tie/Int

5 Speed / 3 Hull

5 Blue - Anti-Squadron

1 Red - Anti-Ship

Counter 2

Swarm

13 Points

Ten Numb - B-Wing

3 Speed / 5 Hull

3 Blue 1 Black - Anti-Squadron

1 Blue 1 Black - Anti-Ship

Bomber

Brace (single)

17 Points

Something that makes it so that squadron fights arent just big globs of who has more fighters.

I feel like a named rebel fighter with escort and scatter in a rieekan fleet would have to be like 30 pts.

I agree. Also, having an Escort Scattering doesn't seem really thematic. "Oh ****, they're attacking us. Bail!"

Hey if you like just go back to two Braces, no biggie ;). I was also iffy on the Scatter there but figured "eh, if you're going to sin, sin boldly."

16 squadrons!

Spoiler: y'all are too good at conjecturing!
