First List (vs. Friends)

By AllyRdr, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Fairly newish to the game and will only be playing against friends for the time being, but was thinking of going with the following:

  • Green Squadron Pilot, w/ Chardaan Refit, Veteran Instincts
  • 3 x Dagger Squadron Pilot, w/ Advanced Sensors

So far, I have no idea what my friends will run with. Any and all thoughts on the above are appreciated.

VI does little for Green, going from PS 3 to 5 won't be that valuable, and what is the plan behind the sensors? Taking an action before moving is rather situational, but almost 10% of your list is invested in it. Take those 9 points and place them into upgrades that help modify your dice.

It would help to know what you have. Still, here are my thoughts...

The Green Squadron Pilot (GSP) A-Wing is a great pilot choice, one of my favorites. If you have Rebel Aces (which you probably do since you listed Chardaan Refit), you can put the A-Wing Test Pilot title card on it for free. It adds another elite upgrade slot. Push the Limit is a good choice for the GSP for one of the elite upgrade slots. Juke or Outmaneuver both work well for the second elite upgrade. If you have Autothrusters, you should add that to your GSP.

The Dagger Squadron Pilot B-Wings are an okay choice, but I typically prefer the Blue Squadron Pilot—they are cheaper, and at those Pilot Skill levels, it is often advantageous to run the lower-level pilot.

The Advanced Sensors is ok on a B-Wing. I sometimes run them that way. It makes the "knife-fighting" a bit easier because you can barrel roll then K-turn. That said, for the same cost, Accuracy Corrector is probably better. If you want to cut some points, you can change to Fire Control System, which is also quite good for B-Wings.

Good luck! :)

The advanced sensors is largely due to the high amount of red on the B wing dial. I like the idea of a workaround for the stress and actions.
The a-wing is cause I like a-wings. I think changing to the cheaper b's and keeping the sensors would suit what I'm looking for, and free up the points to play about with the a-wings upgrades more in line with your suggestions.
Thanks for the replies.

Here is a build I think you will enjoy, using the expansions you have. The B-Wings are naked, but I think you'll still have fun with them.

Jake Farrell (A-Wing)

o A-Wing Test Pilot

o Chardaan Refit

o Push the Limit

o Shield Upgrade

o Veteran Instincts

Green Squadron Pilot (A-Wing)

o A-Wing Test Pilot

o Chardaan Refit

o Push the Limit

o Shield Upgrade

o Veteran Instincts

2x Blue Squadron Pilot

Total = 99 points.

Jake is 5 points more than the GSP, but you gain a Pilot Skill advantage and a free boost or barrel roll.

Thanks again. I'll give that a go when I get a chance.
