Collision detector: buffing the blues

By ModernPenguin, in X-Wing

To me, the biggest reveal in the sf was the collision detector. It sits in a highly contested spot, and I don't think that any imperials will benefit greatly from it, but what about the forgotten hammer of the alliance, the b-wing? It is the only ship that can use it, while keeping the price low.

The BBBBZ gets a free buff, and many b wings might consider upgrading ps with this upgrade instead of the usual fcs or even adv sensors.

Only issue I have with it, is being only one copy on that blasted imperial ship. **** you ffg! ;-)

Eh, I don't think it's enough of a buff to make b-wings awesome again, sadly. It doesn't stop them from getting murdered by several different variantions of alpha strike before they can shoot, so... it's not gonna help much.

Yeah tractor beams, juke and crack shot haven't gone anywhere.

Yeah, let's not go crazy. It's a marginal, situational buff to the handful of ships with a System slot that don't currently use it for anything. It's certainly not moving any lists into or out of the meta tier they're currently in.

Echo is a huge winner no matter what any of you say.

Generic phantoms are winners. Echo still wants FCS.

should be " barely buffing the blues"

Collision Detector is worth 0 points for a good reason

Yeah tractor beams, juke and crack shot haven't gone anywhere.

Tractor beams, however, have become slightly less useful as the crit result is ignored and it becomes that much harder to position a ship so that it gets damaged flying off as well.

should be "barely buffing the blues"

While I agree, I still hope that they got the preview wrong and this is the card that comes in a pair...

eh, honestly I don't think anyone will care as much once the initial hype dies down

I do , however, think I'd rather have two Collision Detectors that might actually see play than two Sensor Clusters that probably never will

I thought the issue with B-wings was that they flew in formation and were easily killed by arc dodgers? That hasn't changed, has it?

E-wings can also take it but an Ewing that isnt Corran with FCS....is just laughable lol...

Echo SHOULDNT need this upgrade. Echo's ability lets her sidestep rocks so easily its laughable and i love doing it. Whisper on the other hand cant do it as easily since its a straight decloak. Nothing more satisfying than decloaking around a rock, doing a hard or soft slow move and suddenly im behind my opponent on the opposite side of a rock and i get this "HOW DID SHE GET THERE" response lol.

Collision detector definitely isnt a bad upgrade. My issue with it is its a sensor slot, which is very commonly the linchpin for a LOT of nasty builds.

If you want it on the BBBBZ strat you need 4 TIE/SF...i plan to get 3 but 4..eh.. lol

You're right in that nothing changed though :(

Collision Detector will soon be a big deal when FFG releases new obstacles with Jabba's Yacht:

Rancor Poodoo is a type of obstacle .

When a ship executes a maneuver, if its base or maneuver template overlaps a Rancor Poodoo token , ALL ships at Range 1 of the Poodoo token immediately receive 1 Stress token. The ship executes its maneuver as normal but suffers the following effect:

Roll 1 Attack die, suffer any [critical] results.

After effects have been applied, remove the Rancor Poodoo token from the play area.

Edit: two dice was too much poodoo

Wow, is this going to be the first 3D token...complete with scent receptacle ??? ;)

No, you'll just use actual poodoo

Sorry to bump an old thread. Does the "can" keyword indicate that you may or must ignore obstacles when barrel/boost/decloak. Just curious bc if you must it could screw you when you roll onto an asteroid you thought you'd clear.

Yeah tractor beams, juke and crack shot haven't gone anywhere.

Tractor beams are fine on B-Wings. :)

Collision detectors are a good filler card, as far as game changing good, not so much, but certainly fun. Of course you'd need to bring nothing but debris not to count what obstacles the opponent brings.

B-wings are still a solid choice. The arguments with "ordnance will melt it down" is just so lame, I can't hear it anymore. EVERYTHING will melt down under focused ordnance fire (also beloved Poe or Defenders)
