Is anyone else concerned about their Regionals dice?

I and a friend looked at our dice and realized that the balance is, shall we say, worrying.

They are slightly lighter but I have about 2 dozen games with mine and I have no issues. They roll blanks as much as normal dice.

Simply put, ours look fairly skewed. Not enough to eliminate any die rolls, but enough to make a difference over every die roll in the game.

Why we do we think the normal dice are fair dice? I've always wondered this, there is no reason why they would have to be.

We used to have the benefit of wondering. Now we actually know.

Thought exactly the same thing. I was tempted to see if they rolled better, but then I remembered its a dead game and it wasn't worth the effort.

Yeah I've thought about putting mine through some statistical analysis to detect and validate bias. Empirically speaking, my "normal" dice seem to perform better. Not something to be the least bit upset about from my point of view.

They need to be fair dice! For the sake of matching the random dice generator on vassal.

Think of the vassalers -- Won't somebody think of the vassalers!!!!!!!!!

Balance is easy to test. Float them dice in a bowl of saltwater. If one side is biased to always face up, the die is not balanced.

What also floats in water?

Build a bridge out of regionals dice?

A duck! A Duck floats in water!

Exactly.

So logically, if the die weighs the same as a duck...

:(

Weigh, mass

Sigh

Regional dice are made from wood!

And therefore?

A witch! The dice are a Witch!

BuRn Her!

The dice are witches?

The dice are witches?

Don't make Carribean go through it again...

I was going to say that @thecactusman17 was a witch for bringing up the witch dice, but you are correct!

Who are you, who are so wise in the ways of science?

People who don't know Monty Python are soooo confused right now

They turned me into a ysalmari!

A ysalmari?

Well--I got better.

I feel so hip, having finally watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail (in entirety, I had seen clips) last week! Yes yes....I know I'm late...

I also feel incredibly strange as a 21 year old saying "hip"...

Shut Up and Sit Down covered this in one of their podcasts. They were talking about a factory somewhere in the states that makes dice. They only make D6s at a certain time during the day when the temperature and conditions were just right to make sure the plastic settled evenly for a perfectly even roll. This is because people are really sensitive about D6 rolls.

However, the other dice they made at any old time of the day because people are just not as sensitive about them. So it's entirely possible that a non D6 *might* be slightly weighted.

Let's face it, the venn diagram of people who post on internet forums and people who are not familiar with Monty Python references probably looks like this:
