Heros of the Resistance

By librarian101, in X-Wing

With all of the reveals for Wave 9 coming out the Hero's expansion seems to have been forgotten about. There are a great many unrevealed elements in it. Maybe FFG can squeeze on in on it.

after all the wave 9 stuff

we're probably looking at the pfighter next, which honestly has far less interesting things to offer than the Shadowcaster (look at the upgrades it comes with...all two of them :P ) but it does have some all important

point costs

pilot abilities

and dial

to reveal

then we get the Shadowcaster preview; THEN Heroes

personally, I really wished they'd jumped from the ARC-170 to Heroes so I can see what Rey and Finn and that unique Astro do so I can put them on the **** ARC but what can you do?

so 3 weeks

As an Imperial/Scum player, I am praying this expansion brings Rebels back into the competitive realm. So far I think it's heading that way, but you're right - I'm pumped for more spoilers.

Yeah im really curious what Rey and Finn do for crew upgrades.

Finn for some reason has an unusual amount of knowledge about the first order so it could be something involving defense "because now you know its coming" - which is part of the movie that always bugged me...hes a GRUNT! how the hell did he know so much detail about very important crap...

Rey could be some kind of salvage upgrade, since the card art looks like shes on her little speeder thingy. Perhaps steal the mod or an ordnance of the ship you killed?

Theres also another astromech in there. And something called "Trick" - tons of crap we have no idea what it is since its completely covered. If not for the image i wouldnt even say that 2nd crew is Rey since all you see is a line of the R lol

Finn's job as a crew in the movies has been "gunner"

both in the SF and in the Falcon

expecting an arc-locked benefit due to the "Arc-matters" theme FFG has been setting since Wave 8 (jumpmaster) and due to that one awesome scene in the movie

which you know you'll want to reproduce in game :P (so it'll synergize with pilot Rey's arc-locked ability)

lies!

you just want that illicit Burst of Speed :P !

(I do too)

Eh, 4 articles to spoil Wave 9. 2-3 to spoil Heroes. I think there will be some Heroes spoilers soon.

theres also another card with the Xwing on it... "Pr..... Thru...." - im guessing thrustors meaning some kind of mobility upgrade?

no way to tell

but if it's "Prow Thrusters" giving a backwards boost (ie engines on the nose of the ship), I'd be beside myself

Edited by ficklegreendice

Oh man that would be amazing. even if its a once per game thing the ability to go 1speed BACKWARDS would be glorious.

I always thought that Pr Th might mean primary thrusters, maybe a BR or something, but he reverse idea gave me something new. Maybe a card that lets you change your speed like Juno.

i'd be rather salty if they gave any pilot ability as an upgrade card lol. You can argue Cool Hand is Soontir's ability but it only works once and it is either focus or evade.

Unless it was that actual pilot as a crew.

only problem with "primary thrusters" is you'd think they'd put those on the base ship :P

"oh hey guys, we forgot to add the primary thrusters on your T-70s. But have no fear, the secondary thrusters should work just fine...right?

It would seem the same would apply to Vectored Thrusters, but they have magically appeared. In space each set of thrusters might have a different mission, docking thrusters, thrusters to rotate the craft in different directions or orientations. Not a matter of not having, but a matter of when FFG wants to assign their use.

might explain why Poe thought the TIE/SF could really move....his T70 was missing its primary thrustors so he was used to flying around with something that only had its backups installed and he had NO idea lol

Who knows, maybe i'll finally get my wish of an "escape vector" maneuver (after doing a hard turn, immediately perform a 3straight maneuver, receive a stress, cannot attack this round)

Edited by Vineheart01

nah ditch the stress

it's a sh*tty SLAM as is, wep's disabled is enough :P

tbh i recently slapped the weapons disabled in there because i didnt want it used as a flanking move. Didnt even think about taking the stress off lol.

Makes more sense to not be able to fire anyway since youre punching the ships engines to the max and probably focused entirely on not crashing so you cant target lol

i love SLAM i just wish i could put it on more ships.....WITHOUT an illicit lol

Edited by Vineheart01

sadly, the presence of but a single wep disabled token makes me think we won't be seeing SLAM t-70s :(

I'm actually surprised that we've been getting wave 9 articles before ones about HotR. I wonder if it's to do with the rumored Rogue 1 ships that are suppose to be added to Wave 9.

Either which way, I'm looking forward to the T-70 article for HotR. I'm really hoping Jessika Pava's ability will be awesome, especially cause of her low pilot skill.

hrm, FFG has a real spotty record with lower PS pilots getting superior abilities even though that'd make more sense than giving higher PS pilots even more of an advantage

the low PS ARCs made it out alright (depends on how much stock you put into Braylen's RNG, but imo Thane's got a pretty swell ability) with imo Shara getting the short end of the stick, but generally the trend hasn't been good

imperials have the worst track record in this regard, mainly because all their aces basically represent 100% of popular use of their respective ship (Vader in the advance, Inquisitor in the TAPs, Soontir in the interceptor with occasional Carnor showing up)

the T-70 itself being comprised of basically Poe and no one else doesn't set a good precedent either, but on the other hand both the VCX-100 and the Attack Shuttle don't offer much for Hera to do while Chopper/Kanan/Sabine/Ezra seem to be picks of the liter there

I love Blue Ace. That 1hard boost can land you some sneaky shots. If he had a stinkin' EPT you'd probably see him floating around a lot of lists (Outmaneuver comes to mind) but the droid that gives you an EPT is just wayyyy too expensive not because of the points but the slot loss really hurts. Im tempted to run it anyway and try him with outmaneuver even though i doubt it'll be that great. Plus i think theres an argument about IA'ing the droid you lose the EPT too....which means you probably dont want IA lol

Ello Asty can be great but often that T3 hits a rock or sends you too far. Wish it was a T2. Still waiting on more ships to actually HAVE that move...quite a few have sloops now.

Other than that...bleh lol. I feel Poe is more for the high PS than his ability since the few times i run him i roll solid eyes so i have to spend it anyway or do jack squat (or get hit hard).

Lot of ships are basically defined by 1 pilot right now, with Guri/Keyan being the only exception to the "highest PS" bit. Dash, Corran, Keyan, Guri, Poe, Inquis, OL, and Vader are pretty much the only pilots you see in those ships. Only time you see non-vader Adv's is if hes already there lol...sometimes i run the other TiE/fos but never competitively. Ive seen Ten Numb a few times but hes just terrible compared to Keyan. And the YT2400 has more than 1 pilot did you guys know that OMG!!

FAQ says you keep the ept slot, even if you integrated even if it's Bobaed :P

so not the absolute worst even if it should've been 0 points

something to keep in mind if some of these new guys roll in without epts, especially given the new epts the expac is introducing

Edited by ficklegreendice

xwing is in need of a generic with an EPT. I'd be surprised if a PS2-4 guy gets one but a PS5 generic with it would be swell.

/hopes

Oh something i forgot to mention about blue ace i pulled once. R7-T1. Since he can use the 1hard when he boosts ive done that to get a quickturn TL shot on people a few times lol. Again, if he had a bloody EPT SLOT!! ughh..

nah we're not getting new generics judging from the card spread and in-keeping with the pattern of Imp/Rebel "ace" pack releases

rebels get all their old generics

imps get none of their old generics (or just the saber squaddie) and new higher PS ept-bearing generics

but, Red Vet already has an ept so that's something I suppose

can say with relative certainty that the PS 3 t-70 won't show up with an ept , because that's just how FFG seems to roll

luckily, you can barely spy Snap and Nien's ept icons

weird.

Though we can see atleast the PS6 guy has an EPT. The placement of that slot is in the same spot as the EPT on poe.

And he has something related to a 4-speed....and touching...perhaps an anti-bump ability? weird.

my most fervent hope is Oicuun in a T-70

go "Snap" go!

and it has to be speed 3-4. No way it triggers only on a forward or a K and affects ships that are touching; that's just incredibly difficult to trigger

edit (minor; unimportant spoilers of EP 7):

wow, just noticed that the Heroes were all survivors of EP 7

after Ello "BUT NO DAMAGE" Asty, I guess I'm kinda surprised
