Best 52-56 point Chewy?

By asters89, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi all

I'm looking for a good chewy build to fly along side a pair of B-wings (ideally with FCS, although potentially without if there is some build with Chewy that will make up for the loss in damage output on the B's).

I was thinking something along the lines of

1.

(52) Chewy

Falcon (evade)

PTL

Kyle Katarn

Kanan Jarrus

Giving essentially 3 actions after the 1st turn. (ie take 2 actions with ptl, clear stress on any white or green, Kyle gives a focus - repeat). Alternatively:

2.

(52) Chewy

Falcon (evade)

PTL

C-3PO

Kanan Jarrus

Works quite similar to above except using c3po as a psudo evade in place of Kyle's focus.

Are there any other good builds? I've seen a few based around gunner and predator but it does come out slightly more expensive. What are your thoughts?

If you want to use PtL and Kanan combo, what about:

52 (56) Chewie w/ PtL, Kanan, Ezra, MF, (Engine).

Assuming you don't want to boost to dodge arcs, you can PtL for a TL, evade and stress. This gives you the evade for defense, and the TL and Ezra for attacking. Seems pretty solid.

No engine leaves you 48pts for 2x Blues with FCS, though I'd argue that engine on the falcon is better than the FCS on the blues.

I am not a huge fan of the Gunner/Predator combo as Predator makes it less like that gunner will trigger. Either of your 52 point combos should work well. I do not think there is much to choose between them. C-3PO is slightly tankier since you can guarantee 2 damage mitigation per turn. Kyle is slightly more flexible.

PtL + Kyle + Kanan is a perfect combo for double-creew-ship (9pts)
Title (evade) + EU - is what every Falcon build needs (5pts)

Here u go 56 pts Chewie with focus token + 2 of 3 actions (tlock, evade, EU) every turn and ability to perform any maneuvers you like (exept red one)

EU is somewhat less useful on Chewie than Han as you won't be dodging arc of anyone PS5+. Still, as long as U-boats remain a thing you can potentially nip out of arc of torpedoes or into Range 1.

54 Pts

Chewbacca (Pilot)

Push The Limit

Han Solo (Crew)

Ezra Bridger (Crew)

Hull Upgrade

Millenium Falcon (Title)

PTL and Ezra work together. Millenium Falcon title lets you take a dodge whilst PTL still allows you to take target lock for Han.

Thanks for the responses guys. It seems to be a question of which crew to use to take advantage of the PTL (there doesnt seem to be much in it and mostly a question of personel preference between offensive and defensive). That said I think Kanan is probably key to the build so that he can open up the dial after taking the stress.

The EU upgrade is an interesting point. I can definitely see it being worth 4 points, but whether it is a better use of those 4 points than FCS on the b-wings, as the list is already a bit short on offensive punch, I'm not sure...

He could drop Han for the Kanan that he wants and still be within 56 points.

Here's an oldie but a goodie:

Chewbacca (42)
Predator (3)
Jan Ors (2)
Recon Specialist (3)
Total: 50
Each turn you focus as an action. Recon Spec nets you a second focus token, and you use Jans Ors to turn 1 of your focus tokens into an evade token. In effect, you get Predator, 1 Focus, and 1 Evade each turn. It's nothing fancy, but it's plenty reliable. It has the added benefit of giving an evade option to other nearby ships in your list.

Way off topic but I when I read the title of this thread I saw 52-56 CHEVY and all I could think of was Greased Lightning :D

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread

Something that did quite well at tournaments (you know, winning worlds) was similar to the following:

Chewbacca (42)

Predator (3)

C3P0 (3)

R2-D2 (4)

(Millenium Falcon Title, evade version) (1)

You can't put FCS on two B-wings with this, but you get a ship that dominates the endgame; able to consistently block 3 damage a turn. I'm not too sure about it though, as you don't have much consistent damage output. The trick with the Falcon is that it ties up so many points yet dies easily to any sort of focused fire. Perhaps:

Chewbacca (42)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Intelligence Agent (1)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Coming it at 50 points, you can afford to put a tractor beam on each of your B-wings as well as FCS. It's designed to bump aces and avoid the arcs of swarms, distracting the opponent while the B-wings do the real damage.
