I would be tempted to spend the last point on switching Ryad to PTL + Mk2 engines. With all those greens to clear stress, I think the extra action will be worth more than the reroll.
Guessing from the points that you have given Soonts PTL already.
Soontir Omega Leader And X is a VERY solid ace list, as long as you can live with the frustration of dying horribly to green dice variance, a LOT. It's not a list that tolerates mistakes.
Ryad as the X is interesting but this probably isn't the Ryad I'd use. I'd maybe look at Lone Wolf or Juke.
Trouble with this is you probably want more bid; Soontir and OL both REALLY want to be able to give away init.
Actually, Soontir is not very good alongside primarily jousting ships. A list like this can do fine in casual events, but if you want to succeed at high level play, its too easy for a smart player to isolate your ships and destroy them one by one since they do not support each other and a good opponent can exploit that weakness.
Soontir works best in '3 flankers' lists (where all the ships are arc-dodgers and therefore can operate independently); he also can work well in 'Palp Aces' as long as you can keep your shuttle around long enough to get benefit from the emperor.
The only other type of list that he works well is with support that tough enough to survive on its own (either when Soontir is turning around to get back into the fight or busy avoiding arcs). Traditionally this has been a decimator, but I have managed to make it work using a pair of deltas with TIE/D and ion cannons. The only reason they work though is the extra damage/control from the ions plus the fact that they have 12 hull/shields between them. Ultimately though, I find carnor jax is better with the deltas than Soontir is, because at least Carnor's ability enhances the Delta's firepower even more.
Ryad and Omega Leader just do not have the firepower to really punish the enemy if they choose to go after Soontir. And stealth Soontir doesn't have enough firepower to really punish the enemy if they go after your jousters first. Target Comp Soontir would work better here, but even then, it still has that inherent weakness that comes with using Soontir alongside two ships that cannot survive long under concentrated fire.
Edited by blade_mercurialI really find that Countess likes Juke. Getting a free evade token (not evade action) nearly every turn makes it even better than Comm relay (to me), since she can actually use it without having to spend an action to get it back.

X7 gives a free evade on 3,4,5 movement and with the extra free point, you could add the Twin Ion Engine upgrade or go to 98 points for Initiative bid improvement.
Edited by USCGrad90given the lack of stress mechanics, I don't think you're getting much out of the countess if you give her juke
I guess it's a bit of dial flexibility, allowing you to K at several speeds and after red turns, but the benefit given her low PS is a bit questionable.
Idk, given the only comparative costing Defender is the Glaive, guess it depends a lot on the local scene and how often players run PS 5s and 6s (so just Biggs, Ryad and Aggressors, other Glaives/Vess) and how often you do (easier to fly squads with same PS to give maneuvering flexibility)
I like Ryad with PTL due to sheer power you feel when you just stack all the modifiers after just about every maneuver
wouldn't fly her with Soonts, though. She's just lovely with Vessery

Any particular reason for not flying her with Soontir or does it just feel thematically wrong (like they might turn on each other at any moment
)?

couldn't fathom why ![]()

I think that is where people err with her, honestly. At PS5, she makes an excellent blocker for aces, and her green + evade K Turns make for some formidable kill boxes. Even if she takes her hard 3, it stresses her, but she still gets that evade for juke (if it lasts, if not, it prevented a damage, making her more survivable). It's perfect against U-Boats. Using the evade to juke one of their evade rolls, then spending the evade to dodge a damage from their ordinance sounds pretty ideal to me, plus she has either a TL or a focus for mods to make her attack even better, or BR to arc dodge.
edit- and while I'm at it, self induced stress isn't the only stress around. Being able to K turn stress from a stressbot away, or rebel captive or mara jade, etc, is always handy. If it's a K Turn, you get to stay in the fight.
