I recently had the pleasure of finishing my Lords of Nal Hutta read, and I have to say, it was excellent. I immediately have begun scheming on how to use the Granee Noopa scenario from 'Rubbing Slimy Elbows' (Page 133).
My question, and I hope somebody here who has ran it can help me, is how to most effectively track the 'Refreshment' section of the encounter. It has a really cool mechanic where there are poisoned drinks, the PCs being able to figure out which are normal and poisoned, by performing various social checks to bluff or obtain information from their opponents. After an hour of Princess Bride Vizzini stuff, everybody has to drink one glass.
I am running a campaign right now online, in Hutt space, and I am trying to figure out an elegant solution for displaying this information to the players. Situations might arise where separate PCs have different opinions on the contents of the drinks, and I don't want that to get lost in book keeping.
Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated. I'd love to here what people have done with it in their games.
NOTE: Meta-gaming wont be an issue for my players. They have been pretty good about keeping player knowledge separate.
Need Advice on Running the Granee Noopa Encounter From Lords of Nal Hutta
I had each player select 1 drink, I had them written on a white board and the quantity (3 each based on my party size and the increase in the 2 opposing team due to the size). This forced everyone but the droids (the NPC one and the one from my party). I had the party alternate with the other 2 groups so it was PCs, the human group, the Rodian group then the PC and repeat.
Then I prevented them from drinking until everyone in the Granee Nupta had a drink. Then everyone drank at once. Then described how no matter the drink the victim felt nauseous and sick. Then I had everyone roll the resilience check. Finally to keep the PCs double guessing the honesty of any group that they made an alliance with, all the drinks were poisoned (these are Hutts after all).
