N'Dru Suhlak 8 damage

By Cununculus, in X-Wing

Since seeing the preview of Most Wanted Suhlak caught my eye as a fun pilot.

With all the new upgrades I needed to give him a go.

Unknowingly he would be pitten against the Ghost. Before the green dice failed me (admittedly flying straight at the Ghost was rather stupid) Suhlak dealt a whopping 8 damage.

N'Dru, as you know gets an attack die extra when his buddies are at least at range 3.

Add Cluster Missiles: now firing 2x4 dice.

For modification there was glitterstim, guidance chips, and predator.

The latter was unneeded.

I could change both throws to 4 hits.

Though setting my damage record in one attack Suhlak perished soon thereafter.

I really like this pilot and will think of more builds to add him in!

Awesome! I love stories like that.

If youre going Predator, you should jsut use Lone Wolf. Others use VI to give him PS9 on pesky aces. To do the same damage.

I really like Suhlak. For around 25 points he is extremely dangerous to anything with low agility. Lone Wolf is worth considering as an alternative to Predator, because it costs one less point, gives a defensive boost, and is just as effective offensively against most enemies.

Remember that you can only use Guidance Chips once per round.

Considering loading him with:

- Adrenaline Rush

- Cloaking Device

- Stygium Particle Accelerator

- Homing Missile

When confronting an opposing ship, a Z95 is a tadd fragile. Cloak, survive, do a white K-turn (adrenaline rush), fire the Homing Missile with 6 dice.

Less sure about damage. But more about surviving.

Thoughts?

But you get your stims and EPT re-roll on both
MUAHAHAHA

Might have missed that :)

MUAHAHAHA

Hell yeah!

How about on N'dru:

Veteran instinct

Cluster-missile

Guidence Chip

Dead Man's Switch.

Get it on range 1, add 1 target lock. Fire the missile. Let the enemy kill N'dru.

I am not sure if both attacks of cluster missiles are affected by N'Dru's ability. Does anyone know?

I thought they did, then again, I thought the same of Guidance Chips ;)

They are. His ability states when you attack, not when you declare an attack.

Personally I like LW, Cluster, Glitter and Chips against rebels. Killed a full HP B-Wing in one turn with this.

VI, Homing, Glitter and Chips against Imps.

I used Lone Wolf, Cluster, Stim, Chip NDru for a 2nd place at a recent small store championship. The rest of the squad was Ion Polab and 2 Crackshot Khiraxz. In most matches he got a key kill on a ship worth more than him - Inquisitor once, Guri once. On the occasions where my oppenent keyed on him, he ran and turtled by popping stims and using Lone Wolf rerolls to survive while the K's and Polab got on their tails. Crack K's behind an Ioned ship = a dead ship.

I am a fan of 4 ship lists where there is no clear cut priority target and at 25 points he is a perfect fit.

Predator is for try hards. Go to the hilt with Opportunist!

If you're real good with ndru, go lone wolf

It's defensive too!

It is legit and with Lone Wolf, Chips, and Glitterstim close to guaranteed, but I've had him PS killed even with Lone Wolf too many times so switched to VI. With Lone Wolf he has a nearly 90% chance of getting two evades with Stim up.

Yeah, I think VI, Clusters, Glitterstim, and Chips is THE build.

Very satisfying to shoot them missiles, and not hard to do.

Any thoughts on adding Vectored Thrusters to the VI build, though?

Don't get me wrong, it's a good build with GC, but with only one dice mod from GC perhaps adding some arc dodging for the mid-late game instead of treating him like a guided missile would be good.

I love that little monster and he has been great in my games since day-one!

Yeah he's got one good shot. I finished off a YV-666 in one match and a Bwing in another match when I used him in a team tournament. It was 150 pts total and 75 each team member. We each had an IG and another ship. I didn't get to use him in one match.

He's a scary little ship.

CHimps are important insurance, particularly with the VI build which doesn't have rerolls, so I wouldn't personally. Giving him PS9 arc dodging capacity could be interesting, but if I was going to do that I'd probably go with a different missile, probably a homer, so that I'd get a strong shot with it early on and could use my extra large primary up close.

But actually, without any mods he's a bit pants if you roll him, so you probably want Predator or Lone Wolf if you're doing VTs anyway.

its a lot of fun but he is a bit of a one shot wonder .......

I really like N'dru with Homing Missiles and Crackshot. Once Vector Thrusters become a thing he could be even more fun

For 24 or 25 points with that much alpha punch, who cares?

He's actually not an incapable closer, either. He's fragile, but the Lone Wolf variant in particular is pretty tough to kill in the endgame.

Completely agree. A PS9 with a huge alpha strike for 24 points? Worth it every time. Takes a huge chunk out of a jumpmaster, regularly gets the jump on imperial aces now that PS8 is prevalent and controls the board against them as a consequence. His worst match up is probably swarms but even then he'll reliably take out a tie fighter and potentially soak up some crack shots before dying.
