By Absol197, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Sounds like I was lucky then - UK and UP from Shiny was in perfect condition

I just received Fully Operational in Sweden (from sfbok.se) the other day.

Don't know if anyone cares, but just putting the information out there.

Still have Unlimited Power, Cyphers and Masks and the 30th anniversary edition on preorder with them... still no news on any kind of arrival.

Any thoughts on whether the announcement of the L5R rpg will effect (positively or negatively) the release/production schedule for our precious Star wars books?

Long-term it's a positive sign - it indicates FFG still believes in the viability of RPGs as a medium (as opposed to the inexorable rise of the collectible card and miniature games), and are thus likely to maintain their best-selling IP. Therefore we aren't likely to see a panicked second edition or the premature end of the line once the announced books are out.

Short-term, it may have a somewhat disruptive effect as it further bottlenecks an RPG release line that's already dealing with a minimum of five more Genesys sourcebooks in addition to any more Star Wars content. However, it's not looking like a large system, and while it's likely to have the traditional swathe of sourcebooks they shouldn't present too much of a problem.

As an aside, does this book's existence (and the new dice system it involves, which may be an odd decision given they already have a perfectly good custom dice system but which likely involved a hefty development cycle) suggest an explanation for the recent book delays? Namely, a lack of staff to spread across their various RPG lines.

What are these five Genesys books you mention? I haven't seen anything announced outside of Terinoth, so just curious. Thanks!

I think they were making some assumptions that each of the general settings mentioned in the Genesys Core book were going to get an expanded setting book, and was counting the number that remained (Hard Sci-Fi, Space Opera, Weird War, Steampunk, and... I'm sure there's one I'm missing...). We don't have any announced, but it's not a hard assumption to say that they're planning to do one of each.

The dice system is the same, it's just the symbols that have changed.

Have any news SWRPG products been announced this year?

Knights of Fate was announced in February. I don't believe we've seen anything new since then.

Alphaspel sent me Unlimited Power and Fully Operational today, hopefully they'll arrive tomorrow.

Nope, only GeneSys uses the same dice with different symbols. L5R is a completely separate dice system. Only two dice (black d6 and white d12) with four symbols (success, explosive success, opportunity, strife). There are a lot of similarities in the systems, but L5R uses no difficulty/setback dice. Opportunity is basically the same as advantage, but explosive success is success + new die, and strife is emotional strain that can sometimes work as success fuel.

Long term I don't think L5R or GeneSys will interfere too much with Star Wars development or printing. FFG did have the Warhammer lines that were dropped last year.

Exactly that, thanks! Maybe not a sourcebook for the 'Contemporary' setting (they're usually called encyclopaedias) but certainly for the other settings, and maybe also for the different Tones mentioned at the end (I'd love a Superhero sourcebook). Maybe even produce new settings. Regardless, as Absol points out they are very likely to milk that one for as much as they can get.

I assume that an Android: Genesys supplement is in the works given the announcement that the CCG-license has run its course, but FFG will continue to release other Android: Netrunner products.

I thought you were talking about GeneSys only. Sorry about that.

I like to visit their shops, but truthfully, I've kind of given up on buying from them online.

Ooh! That's a bit early, isn't it? Maybe you'll be able to be our spoiler this time!

Mine shipped a couple of days ago too. I would imagine it gets in tomorrow, but I’m likely not to take up the mantle of spoiler as that’s a **** of a lot of responsibility and work lol.

Then you shouldn't have mentioned that you're getting the book tomorrow :P !

Definitely don't tell us if you do actually get it. Being the spoiler is like being the Chosen One. You are the one who chooses if you're the Chosen One, but you have to play the part if you're picked nonetheless :) .

I'm still shocked that there hasn't been a single preview article yet. We're all frothing at the mouth over vagaries and guesswork.

Don't stress about it - for a period of time I was the Chosen One, but I chose darkness.

I got Unlimited Power. Let me know if you have questions, and I'll do my best to answer them.

You're about 15 days too late :) . But I appreciate the offer nonetheless!

You know you're about 3 weeks too late for that right? Unless you meant to say Knights of Fate
