@Absol197 , just a question/thought—

Do you think it’s possible that this is the “natural” cycle for KoF, and that it’s just plain being released on schedule instead of holding it until CaM is released?

@Nytwyng , I think that this might be exactly that :) . This is the development time I would normally expect for a book, and they're getting it out before the end of Q2,which was the release time-frame promised in the announcement article. I think that, whenever we get a new book announced, we should start expecting normal production times again :) .

Cool.

Now I’m interested to see what the next few weeks bring in terms of announcements. Almost certainly a Genesys announcement. And hopefully something for Star Wars...a region or era book, maybe.

I want the Clone Wars Era or the Old Republic.

Yay! We just started our SW rotation; my little sister will be SO happy. : )

It’s just s shame that the campaign I had a Warrior in was cut off.

Man...this is starting to feel weird. I'm so glad that we're gonna end up with all the Career books...but its really starting to feel like the RPG line as a whole is getting slowly twilighted. Hopefully they'll prove me wrong and announce the 3rd Adventure book for AoR and F&D, and a 2nd/3rd Region book for those two lines too.

I think era books are on the horizon. New Republic era and Sequel era are both packed with possibilities, along with the Prequel/Clone Wars content they can develop.

I don’t think we’ll see a sequel trilogy era book until 2020. But with Solo plus a lot of the books to pull from (Catalyst; Tarkin; Thrawn; Leia, Princess of Alderaan; Rebel Rising, etc), a “Rise of the Empire” era book seems a safe bet, as does Clone Wars.

If only pirates weren’t bound by NDAs as strongly as we mere mortals are.

It does beg the question; When do we have "enough" books?

I... Uh... I mean...

Bwuh  ? I mean, don't get me wrong, Force and Destiny is my favorite line so I don't mind at all, but... I thought the entire reason they skipped Cyphers and Masks was to avoid having two releases in a row that were for the same line. So... I guess I was wrong about that. I guess Cyphers probably had the same problem that Fully Operational did, and maybe they needed to re-print it?

I'm very confused right now. Happy! ...but confused...

Okay, time to update the charts I guess!

...

We didn't even get any pre-view articles! Something's off here...

So can you use the release date of ghosts and fully operational as a way to. Work back to what the went back to the printer date was and then apply that to cyphers

Well, if we assume that Cyphers and Masks is not going to take any longer to release than Fully Operational did (the longest-development book by far), it should be out by no later than 08/02.

Unfortunately, you can't really work backwards from delayed-but-released books to get good predictions for delayed-and-unreleased books. But I would say that we should definitely have Cyphers out by the end of August at the latest. Unless things have gone super-mega-ultra-disastrously wrong.

From posts froms the likes of Pirate and Darth Gm and others no they are not winding down. Seems like they are having serious printer issues and that does not indicate a twilight.

Sure. But it might be able to tell turn around times. Ee have 2 examples. What can we learn from them ?

I’m gonna venture a guess that the next book to be announced will be a Clone Wars Era book and will feature a decent look into CIS forces and even more podracing. We will likely get a few more universal specializations. We should hear about this one within a month’s time or less.

I really do hope so. At this point I think the focus really should be on era and region supplements.

I hope we see more region books, at that. I feel it's been far too long since the last one.

My big fear is that once the last class book is out that there will be chatter on SWRGP 2.0. I so hope that does not happen.

If they decide to go with a 2.0 then they will lose my support, especially if they use Genesys as a base. Ugh.

Bah, the book I've wanted most for the past six months is Cyphers and Masks. WHY FFG WHYYYYYYYYYY!?!?!?!?!?!

I was hoping for the old "pattern" to pan out and each line to have 3 Adventures, 3 Region books, and 6 Career supplements.

The lack of things in the Upcoming queue is what troubles me; I know there's been some serious issues on the manufacturing side of things...but there just hasn't been much word on books being in development at all. EotE got 2 region books so far...but AoR and F&D only have one each, with no word on why the asymmetry or a book to "fix" the asymmetry.

Agreed, I don't feel there's anything wrong with the system, especially compared to Genesys (which is hampered in my opinion by the lack of good guidance on creating specialisation trees, and some generic ones, in place of the strange semi-specs they feature). Maybe at most a Vehicle Sourcebook to constitute '1.5 Edition', as that's the one area in which people are reasonably critical, but otherwise in the words of the ancients - if it ain't broke don't fix it. There's been a lot of bloat in terms of gear, but that's no bad thing. The reason most systems seem to change edition is that the rules themselves are too bloated, or distinct problems keep cropping up (I refer you to Games Workshop's model), whereas here they've done very little to add new skills or special rules, and the few new Talents are generally well-handled and you only need to know them if your character has them. The core of the game remains streamlined, and bloat only occurs when one takes it on.

Furthermore, the release of a new type of book, the Era books, suggests that rather than mix things up they're going to double down and keep on producing material for the system as it is. We're certainly buying books, and the IP isn't going anywhere, so they're much more likely to just keep building the system.

That said, X-Wing got a new edition, so they may just go there.

Agreed, it would be nice if they fit into a neat pattern. I'd like to think they're going to put out at least one Adventure or Region book for each of AoR and F&D before they hammer on with a new era book, but then it would depend on sales metrics - did they sell more copies of Dawn of Rebellion than Strongholds of Resistance or Ghosts of Dathomir, for instance? People are clamouring for books on the Clone Wars and the Old Republic at the very least, and they're only holding off on publishing one for the Sequel Era because they have to wait for the release of Ep. IX, so it may be they go that way instead.

Some of the copies of ultimate power that came into the UK have damp/distress damage, indicative of spending a long time in a damp/cold environment.

For Fully Operational, the UK was significantly short-shipped, with many stores not even getting the pre-orders they'd made last year, let alone more copies to sell as per normal.

Add in Knights of Fate coming out before Cyphers, together with the warehouse move for Asmodee, means it's possible that they've had an issue with damaged books and perhaps cyphers is being reprinted. If they had similar damage to the copies of ultimate power, that might explain the UK/EU not getting the books stores had ordered.

Obviously with the lack of communication from FFG/Asmodee, this is just another wild guess to try and explain the trends.
