What's with all this standing around there is GLORY to be Won!
I hope this book comes out this year and not be delayed.

I strenuously disagree. But it is a good one, and quite welcome

The only "best" part of it is that the desolate waste of SW book announcement has ended. I'm not a huge f&d player so the book itself isn't a big deal but I appreciate the extra depth that a new book brings to the table and the game itself.
Well, this is a surprise to be sure...
But a welcome one.
2nd quarter of this year? so that means before Fully Operational and Unlimited Power?
I guess this puts us firmly in ALL career books are done. So I think that leaves 1 Age adventure. 2 Age location books, 2 F&D adventures, 2 F&D location books. 1 edge location book? Right @Absol197
Assuming that they're going to do three adventures and region books for all three lines. I'm thinking they might only do two region books for Age and Force.

Why do you think they'll do fewer books?
Just the pattern of the books in the latter two lines. Edge obviously has the Adventure > Career > Region > Career pattern, meaning the book at SWE16 is probably the final region book to finish the pattern.
But the other two are set up for a palindromic pattern: Adventure > Career > Region > Career > Career > Adventure, and then reversing, finishing off with Career > Career > Region > Career > Adventure. Both have a missing book between the last two careers which would be the second Region, but if they finish off with an Adventure, adding a new Region after that makes it ugly and not a pattern
.
Granted, that's not the best reasoning, but it's the one my Brain likes
.
You guys caught the vapaad specialization in the last paragraph right?

I don't see any reason why they can't do another round of career books, it's not like they named this book "the complete warrior"

Yep! But it doesn't give the actual name. It's probably the Vapaad Crusader or Vapaad Master or something like that.

Vaapad initiate. And then you have to buy all the way to the bottom of the tree to get to the Dark Side powers....
Good to see this announced, though!

TSR had one of those. Didn't slow them down....

Agreed. At least we'll have all the career books if the line dies.

The release of the Complete Paladin's Handbook was actually the proverbial straw which prompted me to finally ditch AD&D for good.

What? You don't find the kits of the various "Complete [class]" books analogous to specs and careers?
Okay, seriously? The 2/14 update has already happened for today, and none of the outstanding books changed. Unless they're doing them in waves today (or intend to change one tomorrow), this pushes all three books back at least a week.
We can't seem to get any good news without it immediately being followed up by yet another delay...
EDIT: Okay, thinking about it some more, I think I MAY see a reason for this, and why this might not be as potentially bad as I was initially fearing. Initially, I was fearing that they were going to release all of the books two weeks apart, which pushes
Fully Operational
back a week,
Cyphers and Masks
back two, and
Unlimited Power
back a full three. Which, let's be honest, would probably break me. And, also to be honest, it the more likely scenario here, regardless of my reasoning to follow
.
But, I went back and took a look at all of the other instances of multiple books being released close together. We've had three such instances: Far Horizons and Onslaught at Arda I released on the same day (08/14/2014); in November 2015, we had Chronicles of the Gatekeeper, Strongholds of Resistance, and Mask of the Pirate Queen release in consecutive weeks; and finally, in March of 2016, we had Nexus of Power and Special Modifications release a week apart.
Now, take a look at those three instances: in each of them, all of the books involved were from different lines. However, in this case, we have three Age books vying for release, and two Force books. Perhaps the answer is that FFG doesn't want to release two books from the same line within a week of each other. If so, they could follow this pattern:
Week 1: Dawn of Rebellion (this is both an Age and a Force book, so it can't be near, well, anything);
Week 2: Nothing;
Week 3: Fully Operational ;
Week 4: Unlimited Power;
Week 5: Cyphers and Masks .
This satisfies the condition that no two books of the same line release within a week of each other, and gets all four released in as quick a succession as possible. Unfortunately, while it does allow Unlimited Power to keep the same predicted release date, both of the remaining Age career books move back; Operational by one week (pushing it over the one year mark), and Cyphers by two.
But, let's hope for this pattern, anyway. It gets us all four books in five weeks, instead of a two-week stagger getting us all four in seven...
Edited by Absol197My Dawn of Rebellion is currently shipping and Fully Operational will likely happen today or tmw, I’m confident things are moving forward.

I hope so, but after two years of watching the Upcoming page like a hawk, you get used to some of the patterns. Such as certain types of updates only happen on certain days, and days very rarely have more than one update.
So since Fully Operational didn't change with this morning's update, the chance for it to change status at all this week has dropped significantly.
I hope I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not

How does today being both Valentine's day and ash Wednesday (a holy day for Catholics and similar Christian denominations) affect things? (Today is a calendar abnormality)

I honestly don't know. But Valentine's Day is not a federally recognized holiday in America (where FFG is based), and even if some of their staff requested today off due to it being Ash Wednesday, I doubt that ALL of them did. It's not a federal holiday, either.
Maybe it will mean that we'll get an update tomorrow. But we already did get close to a dozen non-Star Wars RPG products changing status today, so it's not like there's no one available to change the status. They just didn't change the status for our book(s).
It's worth noting that absolutely no new (non-reprint) products moved to "Shipping Now" status today, which means there is currently nothing listed for release on 3/1. It is possible that tomorrow there will be some releases moved up for something (whether or not it's for the RPG).
Of course, sometimes we get a Thursday with no announced releases - usually that's when they release digital products or stuff made in FFG's in-house manufacturing like Specialization Decks or playmats for Imperial Assault or X-Wing.
Thanks for that. I really do hope I'm overreacting, and we'll see a change tomorrow. I just...I don't think I am.
