What does an online riot look like? Maybe a denial of service attack, i.e. we get a bot farm and have it repeatedly access the forums so it gets too busy for other people to access it, or so I've heard from a friend of mine who will remain safely anonymous (multiple references there)

Um...... We just post we want articles in a childish tone and then wait patiently. Perhaps riot is a strong word.

Well, yes it did. But that's not exciting to me personally, as I never played the WEG game, and having read through the book on Socorro and seen how the stats work, I'm not entirely stoked about it. I probably won't even get it, because it just doesn't seem to be an interesting system to me.

Not saying it isn't fun, or it wasn't super important for what it was at the time, but it's not my thing, so I'm not excited about it.

Wow, the new like options are terrible. Just wanted to say I agree.

The sad part is that what the mystics are suffering through isn't even a hiccup compared to what we engineers have been suffering through for almost a year... but at least we had articles... And if I'm not mistaken the mystic book has really been moving along quite quickly... statistically speaking anyway.

Really? I kinda like them... it's not just a generic 'like'... mind you I'd say they could be better.

I get it, really. An entire year with your book floating there just out of reach? That's rough :( . But I do want an article. Is just one too much to ask?

By no means. You should have 3 at least by now...

I hate to admit it but I slipped on my boycott of ffg products... I bought 1 alpha class star wing for xwing... maybe that's why you haven't received an article yet... but no more till FO is out and in stores... I mean in my hand.

Yeah. I seriously began three engineers when this book came out. Two of the campaigns have run their course already and the last one is well along. I have not boycotted FFG but I am beginning to get rather disillusioned. The unreasonable length of time to get a product to market is the only thing I haven’t liked about this game.

As frustrating as it is, I sort of understand. With Ghosts through Dawn there was a massive delay beyond their control. For normal book production...three to five months is a long time, but they also announce their books much earlier in the process than other companies. So...it's tough to say. I'll just say that I can understand your position, but I'm not sure I agree.

We exist in an unfortunate echo chamber here too, there’s no way to compare ffg’s performance to any other company since there’s simply too many variables. They put out an incredibly high quality product, they only print hard cover, they sell a system that isn’t d20, they have the one of the biggest IP’s in the world.

The only products that would even come close to comparable would be a Harry Potter RPG, Marvel Superheroes or the Lord Of The Rings. DnD is minuscule when you compare the value of its IP to any of those, yet in the RPG world it’s top dog.

Yeah, that one should only be bought for the nostalgia factor...

It's really not a superior system IMHO.

Hmm i think the UI confused me :)

And still only one like to give?

Not exactly, you can give a trophy instead of a heart, I think that the heart is the regular like and the trophy is the like on steroids.

So @Absol197 when can we reasonably expect the next benchmark for either new product details or the arrival of the on the boat products?

Well, my record's been a bit spotty recently, especially in regard to predicting new announcements, but I'll give it a shot.

We are probably not going to get a new announcement until February; even though my beloved Unlimited Power (!!1!!!) was announced in the latter half of the month, it's only the third book out of 32 to do so, so I doubt we'll get another so soon ("soon") after it. I'm guessing they're waiting for at least some of the delayed books to be Shipping Now , or otherwise closer to release, before announcing a new book, so I'm guessing that Friday, February 9, is probably the most likely day coming up.

As for getting our current stock off the boat, six weeks is the minimum boating time we've had so far, so most likely we won't see them change until February 1, at the earliest. However, there are potentially up to four books that need to be boated and then prepped for shipping at once, so that may increase the boating time, as they need to be ready to ship before they change the status, I'd think.

So if we add another week, our earliest expected time to change to Shipping Now is probably Thursday, February 8. Then add two weeks for shipping, and we should start expecting at least the first book to arrive by February 22. Basically, one month left to go :( .

So, funny little thing going on here with the number of days since our previous announcement.

As of today, we are in fourth place for the longest wait. If we make it through Friday with nothing (which is pretty much a given), we will be in second place.

And, if I'm wrong about February 9 being the next announcement day and it takes longer than that, we will have broken the record and moved into first, beating out the wait record set by the wait for the very first sourcebook, Beyond the Rim.

Exciting times we live in, no?

Well, could be worse. In addition to Star Wars, I run an Iron Kingdoms campaign. It has now been well over two years since they released their last book, and nobody in the company will say whether the line is dead or just on the back burner because of all the problems they've been having with their wargame. They had at least been publishing bits and pieces of fluff and crunch in their magazine, but now that appears to have dried up as well.

I think I’ll pass the time like Creepio does: I’ll tap into Laser Moon’s navigation systems and take it for a spin! I’ve heard Alderaan is quite nice this time of year, the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen... And if their still isn’t anything, then I’ll redirect all power into a spectacular light show at a target of my choosing.

Sooo in light of the new RPG preview article posted today...

Is FFG mocking us??? :P

I think we can definitively say so :P !

No, consider that that product has not had any previews since it was announced in...I wanna say April-ish? Or was it on May 4? So it deserved one by now. I just want one for my Mystic, too!

Sorry for a slight derail, but what problems are there with the wargame? I played in the Iron Kingdoms setting when it was built for DnD but haven't read much of it since. I really liked the setting and if I had been able to play more I would have looked at converting it to 5e. Maybe I can find a Genesys version to join.
