My guess would that this is based on calculating combinations or permutations. While I don’t have F&D, so I can’t be sure, is there anything where you pick one of nine things, then pick a second thing of the remaining eight, then a third of the remaining seven, etc?

Looks like 9C4 *3 or 9C5*3. Not sure why you're multiplying by 3
9C4 = 9 things taken in combinations of 4 at a time.

That's because you're only looking at a small part of one of the full equations. There's a whole series of dozens of them! And crucially, neither combinations nor permutations are the proper way to model this. I tested both and they always came out wrong!
The same part of the next equation is:
9!/(4!*3!*2!)
Trust me, it'll make sense when I post it, which has a high likelihood of being tomorrow

Oh ok. I thought it was related to the release of products, which is why it seemed strange to move to the F&D forum.
Also: new forum update...thoughts? I was not expecting a change at all. Or am I the only one seeing an update?
My one worry (which is rather minor, but) is number of likes we can give out, strangely. My sister frequents a forum that has similar symbology and function, and they limit you to 3 "likes" a day. Hopefully that number hadn't changed. I enjoy being able to dole out my choice of 50 every solar cycle

I noticed the change, too. Two clicks to mark a forum read instead of one now. And a bunch of avatars seem to have disappeared from people's profiles, though I don't see any fewer options in my own user profile.
That and the fact that links to posts on this site seem mucked up now.

That I've measured, definitely. Unfortunately, they didn't start doing this consistent 3-article structure (which Unlimited Power has now broken, btw) until No Disintegrations , so I had already considered measuring articles, and then discarded it as not especially relevant. So I don't have much data beyond the beginning of last year.
But from what I do have, yes
. Although keep in mind that some books before this have never even received preview articles, so in that respect we're not too out of place. It's just that it's odd with the current model they've been using for us to get nothing...

I'm trying to be patient, but I gotta say, I'm starting to get frustrated with waiting! I know the big problem, the delay in book releases, is not FFG's fault. But I gotta say: the long wait combined with nothing new and no previews is making this very tough.
I've never been good at patience, to begin with!

Well, yes it did. But that's not exciting to me personally, as I never played the WEG game, and having read through the book on Socorro and seen how the stats work, I'm not entirely stoked about it. I probably won't even get it, because it just doesn't seem to be an interesting system to me.
Not saying it isn't fun, or it wasn't super important for what it was at the time, but it's not my thing, so I'm not excited about it.
