Now that I think of Lady Galadriels lines Love me and Despair sounds like something you would have a character say after they succeeded on a Charm check but with a Despair.

@Absol197 now I know how to read all your updates here on this topic of yours.

Right. What did I say  ?

obscure reference to the Oracle of Delphi is obscure....

It's generally easier to connect to a Microsoft SQL Server database in Delphi rather than an Orcale DB.

Darn. I was really hoping that at least some of the printing books (most likely the Age ones, but I wouldn't mind if it included Unlimited Power , too ;) ) would go On the Boat when Genesys updated. But alas :( .

Probably wanted to give genesys some time in the spotlight to see if it's successful enough to warrant further investiture in the product line beyond what they've already committed.

That's my thought, as well.

I saw on Facebook that GeneSys's quick shipping time was because it was printed in the US. It's not something they do often.

Sam: " We print some stuff in the US. All of Kat's novellas, for example, and Baron Munchausen. "

That would be an interesting podcast question. How and why some in the US? I'd pay $5 more a book to tell China to go F itself and F this shipping/port bull from now on.

I wouldn't have used language that colorful, but I would also be willing to pay $5 more per book to have it printed in the U.S. and skip the 6 or so weeks it's on the boat. I think it's also a good idea to support us manufacturing (using the term loosely enough to include book printing).

It is shocking that the assumption seems to be that the west will only pay the lowest possible price. Reminds me of the pizza ceo who said he’d have to raise his pizza prices 25c in order to offer his employees healthcare, like this was an outrage!?

sorry a bit OT but really how cheap is cheap enough?

I wonder if the price difference is only $5, though. A $5 price difference would mean the US printing would be what, a $1.50 or $2 difference in the cost to print? That would mean cost to print and ship is 35-40% of the MSRP, and that seems high; the publisher is only getting something like 40% of MSRP, right? And that has to include a profit for them. So a $5 MSRP difference is probably a $1 or less more per book to print and ship, which seems small enough that I have to think that either the rest of the audience isn't that price flexible, the difference in cost is larger, or US printing frequently isn't feasible for other reasons (availability, maybe; how much printing capacity is there in the US, and how much of it is typically in use?).

Of course, I'm sure it varies wildly, depending on page count, paper type, book size, color, and probably more. Heck, payment terms probably matter - if one printer requires less money up front, that's probably a boon for cash flow.

Given piracy, a fair number of people have "all but free" as their "cheap enough" level.

When I posted Sam's comment above, I didn't intend to derail Absol's wonderful thread.I hope we can move this conversation to a new topic. We can speculate all day long, but in the end, that's all it is.

Let's do move to a different topic. How about the fact that Unlimited Power (!!!)'s Product page has finally appeared! That should mean our first article is not far away, right? ...Right?

...guys?

For what it's worth, Mini Market and CSinc are sold out and my FLGS said that the game was selling very quickly. That might be an artifact of "Ooooh, shiny!" and it's still way too early to tell, but it's a promising sign.

Not sure how quickly it’s selling at the store near me, but based on what I see online, I’m glad my wife went and got me a copy on release day while I was out of town.

I think its doing well enough. It came into my flgs between paycheques and was gone by the time I had cash again the following week.

It sold out at all my local stores. Not sure if this is due to poor ordering or popularity. Luckily I bought my book a couple sets of dice on release day.
