So where does the force awakens beginner game fit into things?
Trends, Statistics, and Predictions!
I'm not partial to the Beginner Games because I can't fathom a situation in which I would use anything in them, so I don't directly track them.
However, for those interested, TFA Beginner Game will be released Thursday, August 4. Hey, that's GenCon, isn't it?
Edited by Absol197Any predictions on what a Bounty Hunter source book will be titled?
My guess: No Disintegrations.
That's not something that can be mathematically predicted, so I won't give an official guess (as "official" as any of my predictions are). While I like No Disintegrations, I don't feel it's too likely.
I think our unknown region book will be about Shadowports and be titled Scum and Villainy, but the name of the Bounty Hunter book will likely not be a direct quote from the movies. I haven't a guess what it might be, though.
Keep in mind, only 4 out of 21 books (19.05%) so far announced have titles that are direct quotes from the movies. Even if we remove the adventures because those are very unlikely to have titles that are quotes, that's still only 4/16, or 25.00%. Not every book needs to be a quote (which is a good thing!), and for Bounty Hunters I believe the FFG team can think of something much more creative than "No Disintegrations."
My personal favorite joke name for the book is:
"Bring Them Back Alive (Includes Redundant Organs)"
Edited by Absol197Thanks, Absol197, for sharing your (shared) obsession about predictions with the community.
I wonder what species we may yet get, as the window on career sourcebooks begins to close. Pictures seem to have no bearing on what species get details, as the Ewok in Savage Spirits can attest. However, if we presume career sourcebooks add 2-3 new species, and other sourcebooks/adventures offer 1-4 new species, about how many more new species should we expect? Is there any predictive data on species that may be culled?
What are your top three species that we need to see before the career sourcebooks wind down?
Edited by cimmerianthiefI'm partial to the title "Death Mark" myself.
ETA: for the BH book of course.
Edited by AtamaI know very little about the extended Star Wars universe; the only species I'm familiar with are those that have appeared in the movies or TV shows; I could list off a couple I know we don't have yet, but I don't know of any I think we need , nor could I guess which ones we'll get.
Sorry, species is one area where my knowledge is severely lacking...
EDIT: Hmm...Death Mark is not a bad name for the BH book...

If they haven't been in books that I somehow missed, I'd like to see:
Dathomirian
Rattataki
Ugnaught

Bith
Gamorrean
Miralukan
Just to toss out some different ones there
Okay, after seeing everyone going crazy hoping they'll show up, I finally looked up the miraluka, and...really? They're just humans with no eyes? What the heck is the big deal? Be a human with a F&D career and buy into the Farsight power with some of your starting xp. Done, congratulations.
What little EU quirk am I missing that makes them so amazing?
For me, I'd say Visas Marr was a memorable and likeable character. Some people might like Jerec. The Old Republic might contribute, if you're a fan, as they were a playable race. Maybe it has something to do with the inherent Force sensitivity and the unique quirks, but it's probably not just one thing in particular.
I confess I have a certain sentimental attachment to the 'miralukan. My main on SW-TOR (yes I still play and i hope I don't get in trouble for mentioning it) is a Miralukan, and I have had him since the initial launch.
Several of the others are just humans with a pain job. Nothing too special about the Mirialans, just green with tattoos , Corellians are humans with just a diffent set of talents, Twi'liks are humans with head tails.
I would like to see Jawa and mumble mumble Ewok mumble since they are my wife's favourite and she would be more likely to join the game if they where an option.
"If The Price Is Right" is my joke entry for BH book, "A Debit to Pay" would be a good one, "No Disintegrations" would be my favourite.
"A Debit to Pay" would be quite the... unusual name. I guess it's a bounty hunter who doesn't like to use credit?
Ghostofman used either "Blood Money" or something close once, and it was brilliant.
I'd put Miraluka as a favored species too, my main in TOR was one. The big thing about them is that they are all Force sensitive and "see" with the Force since they lack eyes. That makes them more distinctive than a guy who has a tentacle mouth or looks like a goat.
Jawas... How did I forget them...
If we are talking about species in legends, I've always had a soft spot for Dinosaurs so the Chistori, Ssi-Ruu and the Tiss'Shar. The latter two being just walking talking velociraptors. Absol how do you possibly have the time to compile all this, it is truly rather impressive.
Edited by ShlambateIt's really just a couple minutes here and there as new data becomes available. Nowadays when new data is three or four weeks apart, the data collecting is so minor that it basically takes no time. The hardest bit was getting started back in December, and even then getting all the data I needed only took about two hours of dedicated searching.
After that, it's basically just plugging the numbers into different spreadsheet setups (a minute or two tops) and interpreting the results. By far the longest part is typing up the posts I share with you guys, and that's between five and ten minutes every couple of days.
I've always said my analytical skills are nothing special, I'm just the only one here obsessive enough to dig up the numbers.
I will admit my tangent to review product codes was a bit time consuming, but I only need to do it once to learn basically everything there is to know about it, so the one-time sink is relatively negligible.
EDIT: The you go post-stalking me again, Rich! I promise, I'm trying to be less awesome, it's just hard !
Edited by Absol197First of, Absol, this is amazing.
Second, my dream species is Ewok. Always has been. If they release one in any line, I'll buy that book on release day and play a force sensitive teddy bear!
Also, Hard Merchandise was the BH title I was rooting for.
"He's no good to me dead." A little direct, but then... bounty hunters.
Now, then, after contributing to the problem, I feel as though this might all be off topic a touch.

You get a dice set. Maps, destiny tokens and tokens to use in place of miniatures and an adventure you can easily use in a normal game. It is a far better deal for dice than the dice sets. Plus in the TFA beginner box you get a poster galaxy map. totally worth it.

I missed the bit about the galaxy map. That alone will be worth it! But I'm also interested in this one for its TFA-era stuff and stats. I don't own any of the others, since I don't tend to use pre-made adventures for anything (until recently), but I ordered one for work to be used there and ran the FaD beginner game for friends who had purchased it themselves. It was actually a lot of fun, once I fell into the rhythm (which is different than my own rhythm).
Soldier book has switched to 'Now Shipping'.
\o/
Huzzah. That means I overreacted when we didn't start shipping last week. Final prediction is a release on August 18.
I'll go update the first post...

That's not bad. But I like "A Fistful of Credits" for the bounty hunter book.
According to this article http://icv2.com/articles/markets/view/35144/top-5-rpgs-spring-2016 FFGs Star Wars RPG is the number 3 best selling RPG this year and the whole RPG market has grown 40% this year according to this article http://icv2.com/articles/news/view/35150/hobby-games-market-nearly-1-2-billion .
The downside is that the RPG market is a paltry 3% of the whole Hobby & Games market. Which probably means that FFGs upcoming collectible dice/card game will be more profitable than the RPG.
