'S not Jakku, love~ ;) Although I knew everyone would think that's the one I was referring to!

And yes yes, the TFA Beginner Game is shipping. I don't track the Beginner games because, frankly, they don't interest me, this one in particular.

But, doesn't mean I can't tell you when it's out! GenCon (August 4th) will be the day!

Socorro then?

There you go!

A planet I like, that hasn't been explored in any Lore I can find, and that would fit into a book about shadowports? Sounds like a winner to me!

Does the entire WEG book on Socorro count as being explored, or are you not counting that? Not sarcastic, just curious if you know of it.

I'd be very happy with a shadowport book. That'd be enough to distract me from not getting the bounty hunter book for a while.

And as far as I'm concerned, FFG has free reign to make up whatever they like. Arbooine and the Sathari are neat, Defiant Core base is wicked cool, and Weik? I could set entire campaigns on Weik. Everything they've invented whole-cloth has at least been useful for running games, if not thematically perfect for Star Wars and inspiring for ideas.

... What do you mean it's not up to me if FFG can just make stuff up? I pay my taxes!

I've never even seen a WEG book. So no, I didn't know about it! I would very much like to know more, though! Where's the button? Don't these bulletins usually have a button?

The Black Sands of Socorro . You can probably find it online or on Ebay somewhere.

Huh. That would have been really helpful to know about around a month ago. Thanks!

How the heck did I not find that in my research? I'm usually very exhaustive, and I checked Wookiepedia...Although I have admittedly weak Google-Fu, so i'm going to blame that!

Anyways, statistics! Unless it changes today (and it looks like it won't), I'm calling it official that Endless Vigil will not make a Q3 release. There's just too little time remaining in the quarter.

Everything from WEG is available for free at d6 holocron.

I'd welcome a general 'shadowports' book like 'Nexus of Power', only for EoE.

I'd prefer other things over Tattooine, simply because it's been done to death down the years.

I know it's borderline heresy, but I'd actually like FFG to do something new, a whole new sector with new factions, species, outlooks, etc. They already did the budgerigar-people and the Budgie Planet, so they must have some licence to make new stuff (I dunno, maybe that was pre-Disney?)

Considering how huge the Star Wars galaxy is, I'm always nonplussed why we keep coming back to the same places, the same names, the same tired tropes. I understand to a degree why the movies and shows are always so full of familiar elements; but an RPG is an ideal place to explore this stuff, to think outside the box a little.

I kinda miss the way the WEG version of the game really tried to open up new horizons. There's more to Star Wars than the Kardashians Skywalkers.

I have a friend who works at Disney corporate and we've chatted in general terms about licensing deals for their subsidiary IPs. Their terms are not insanely restrictive compared to some others, but there are a LOT of disincentives to go "outside the box" as it were (mostly to do with approvals, which can take FOREVER compared to how it used to be). There are also a ton of pressures from these licensing offices to do tie-ins and links to other licensed products that are working within the approved IP -- toys, other games, video games, etc.

(That said, I do agree with you: this IP is vast with possibilities for unique content creation, and with the quality of the work we've seen so far with the supplements, I'd love to see what the team would come up with.)

Well, the recent news article might give us an idea why Star Wars RPG news has been a bit sparse lately: their RPG department has been tied up with Lot5R stuff!

Cool news, but hopefully that announcement means we can get back to a galaxy far, far away...

EDIT: Ninja’d by Alisair Longreach! ;)

But I already paid $25 for it! Plus shipping! Shipping!

Well, that shows me off for being impatient...grumble grumble grumble...

EDIT: I protest, but really I greatly prefer actual physical books to reading .pdfs or e-books, so it's not really like I wasn't going to buy it anyways.

Hmm...Beyond the Rim went to Awaiting Reprint today, yet Mask of the Pirate Queen still isn't there. Yet Mask has been out of stock for a while, whereas Rim hasn't.

This tells us something, but I'm not sure what yet *updates charts* ... Maybe Mask just isn't a good seller, but Rim is? Either way, it's worth noting.

Fussing with the numbers some more, I'm more confident than ever that we'll get an Edge announcement at GenCon. Whether it'll be a final Region book or the long-awaited Bounty Hunter book remains to be seen.

Ive been wanting the BH book forever, since they started publishing the splatbooks!!!

So I know it won't be that one.

Well, if they are prioritizing the career books, and Edge only has to release Bounty Hunter, there's only one more option: release a seventh new career for Edge, with 6 brand new specializations.

Call it the Troll career? all of the Specialisations are particularly good at annoying Bounty Hunters and getting away with it!

One of those careers will detail how it is the career Jar Jar Binks had....

i went to the article after reading this thinking to see an amazing announcement that FFG officially had L5R in development... DISAPPOINTED! it was an add for a sale on drive through rpg

As a long time L5R player (since it was first released really) I can tell you there was absolutely nothing new in that sale, so no reason for any of the RPG department to have been busy for more than a couple of hours.

It does build hope for a 5th edition of L5R in the future, but I'd rather they put out even more for Star Wars in the meantime.

Something to consider is that Gen Con has been traditionally a Beta Release for a Line. I wonder if FFG have decided to make a "generic" game system using the FFG dice style, and then have L5R as their first release...followed by Netrunner...

Well well, Endless Vigil just went to the printer yesterday.

Recalculating based off that, my prediction is adjusted to October 13th. That would put it at 100 days for release, making it by far the shortest Force book to be released. However, it's still not a record-breaker, and still not nearly close enough to the 86 days required to get out in Q3. It is possible, based off the data I have, for it to be as early as October 6th, but that's less likely, unfortunately.

But either way, I'm still excited! While it's no Mystic book, it is the last career book needed for the party of the game I'm running, and the theme also looks Hella cool!

I wish I could say that . . . but I have a Bounty Hunter in the EotE party and a Spy in the AoR game . . .

Well then that's just bad luck!

I'm debating with myself whether the Engineer or the Spy is likely to be last in line for Age. And of the Bounty Hunter is any indication, I'm thinking your Spy might be waiting a while...

Although that's probably better then what I'm in for: current patterns suggest that if the Mystic book (my favorite career by far) isn't the next Force book, it will be dead last. Meaning the last career book they publish :( .

Well, not that it indicates much, but they released Special Modifications as the fifth sourcebook for Edge. If they release Engineer next, it would also be the fifth book. I'm hoping they release Spy next, simply to mix up the order a bit. And because Spy is the one career in the game that desperately needs some TLC.
