[Edit] ...It's an adjective-noun combo... [EDIT]

Some days, I just smile and am happy to find an intelligent community forum...

This fits well with Absol197's predictions about naming conventions and their matching products (like career sourcebooks).

You know Cimmerianthief, I have no idea what forums you've been frequenting, but every single one I go to intelligence seems to be in abundant supply. I'm sorry that's not been your experience. But we appreciate you here! Thanks for joining us and adding your delicious brains wonderful intellect to our sinister hivemind peaceful community!

I still have hopes the bounty hunter book is titled My Kind of Scum, but they're really small hopes.

As for AoR locations, and Imperial stronghold book would be welcome, and for a third book, I'd love to see one on flashpoints/active war zones.

I would love a Coruscant book called Imperial Capital that was system agnostic. Pipe dream but I think it would be cool.

Honestly after they're done with all the career books I really hope they move to system agnostic books.

But I would love to see a book on Imperial strongholds, one that went into more details about the structure of both the Alliance and Imperial structure and military, one that covered shadow ports, one that covered other criminal organizations outside the Hutts (such as Black Sun and Shadow Collective).

This is why I would have preferred to wait for the Force Awakens Boxed Set..

I think the Force Awaken's Boxed set is a test, to see how viable following the movie plot line is and if it will be worth while to push Disney for more upfront. I think they are releasing TFA now so that they can cash in before Rogue One takes the entire spot light for the next year (which will be easily covered by AoR normal stuff). If TFA sales well then they have room to ask Disney for more movie info upfront so that they can do better and more timely product tie ins (if it sold this well a year after imagine how much better it will sell a month after the movie!!!).

I could be wrong of course ..... but I honestly see TFA as a test product for how invested FFG wants to get into the new movie era.

I would like stats for the X-Wing T-70, TIE/FO, TIE/SF and Quadhopper from TFA. And Chewie's upgraded bowcaster (I'm assuming it was better in that movie, but maybe it was always that good). I'm hoping FFG does follow up with at least one resource book...

For a ship who's only appearance was getting blown up as part of a gag about the Millennium Falcon being a piece of junk, there's a surprising amount of love for the Quadjumper. I guess being one of the few new ships we see on screen has its advantages.

Back on the topic of sourcebook names, I'd like the record to know that "Special Modifications" is also a quote from the movies, along with "Stay on Target" and "Fly Casual." Maybe it can be "Deadly (or Lethal) Predators" for the Bounty Hunter book. I still like "Blood Money" though.

Yes, they are quotes from the movies, but they're quotes from the movies that fit the established naming conventions.

EDIT: Ooh! Ooh! Instead of "Scum and Villainy" for a shadowports book, perhaps it will be "Hives of Villainy" instead! It fits the naming pattern, but still references the same quote~

Wretched hives of Scum and villainy would be more fitting title

...Did you miss my whole in-depth analysis of naming conventions for this system? There's a particular reason I went with the abbreviated "Hives of Villainy"...

If the shadowports book was actually AoR (giving Rebels, Imperials and Other settings books) Then the last EotE book could stay with the area focus. This could be the Arkanis sector or maybe something a little different and do core world's or something like that.

Thanks, Absol197 :)

In real-life, I'm a writer, and a (self)advocate for autism in education and employment opportunities. I lobby the PA and US Congress (inasmuch as we have no openly autistic Senator writing legislation about autism). You can imagine the emotionally-charged and political-rhetoric landmines that await my careful navigation in those forums.

If that's not the title of the bounty hunter book, it would be a good title for an adventure.

so, I think I see a quad jumper on Takodana in the comic-ization of TFA.

:P

I wonder what the possibility of there being an AoR book called, "It's a Trap"?

Okay ladies and gents, Endless Vigil has gone On the Boat!

Side Note: Interesting trend I see forming - the last three books have gone On the Boat on a Wednesday, just like every book goes to Shipping Now on a Tuesday and is released on a Thursday...will this trend continue, or is it just a coincidence during a specific period of time? Now sure yet, but I'll keep an eye on it...

So, with that tangent done, current predictions are either October 20 or October 27 for release. I'm going to be optimistic about the boating and make my prediction the 20th, but keep in mind a 7-week boat trip like Forged in Battle had is at least possible.

Off to update the first post!

...Okay, okay wait. Did anyone else lose access to the forums for about three hours? My internet was working, and I could get to all other parts of FFG's site, but the forum had like, crashed hard for a while there, on both my laptop and my phone.

And then it comes back, and it looks like it's been business as usual. Am I going crazy(er)?

It’s been working for me.

I have noticed times in the past when the forums get really slow and unreliable, and that’s when you tend to get accidental double-posts, etc….

But I don’t recall any time recently when the forums themselves were completely unavailable.

It was giving me a white page saying something like, "Request has been denied," with a long code that represents the request number, or something. If I refreshed, nothing changed except the request code. I wish I had screenshotted it. It if hadn't started working, I was going to report it to FFG when I got home.

It definitely wasn't just it being slow - for nearly three hours, I was thinking that the entire forum had been destroyed or something.

And for someone like me, you can guess how anxiety-inducing that might be... >_<

It means your predictions are very close.

TOO CLOSE.

They're onto you Absol.

I've had that happen once or twice before. Like you, I've had to just wait it out.

Darn it, it just happened again >_< !!

Okay, here's what it says (the long jumble of numbers and letters changes every time I refresh):

ERROR

The request could not be satisfied

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The origin closed the connection

This time it only lasted about ten minutes, but still - it's not an issue with an individual device, because every other site still works, but the forum doesn't no matter what device I'm using - phone, laptop, desktop, work computer, everything has the problem at the same time. We're sure no one else is seeing this? I'm not usually paranoid, but...

From what I can tell, that's a CloudFront error caused by the configuration of FFG's web server settings. It's trying and failing to use a secure connection to get to the web content. Specifically, it could be a certificate problem or an issue when it's trying to do a redirect. I wonder what happens if you change the "HTTPS:" to "HTTP:" in the web address of your browser, or vice-versa, if that might help?

Just to clarify, this isn't a problem on your end, this is entirely an issue with FFG's web server. But there may possibly be a way to get around it on the rare occasions that it happens.

ETA: Hmm, one thing I just noticed is that whenever I visit a forum page where people have embedded images in their posts, my browser warns me that the images aren't secured, which is potentially an issue with a secure web site. Imagine being in a heavily-secured bunker but the room you're in is stuffy so you decide to crack a window. Some browsers may not like that environment. Do you notice if it's specific to those pages?

As an aside, what's probably happening to you, Absol197, is that you are geographically close to a failing node in a content delivery network; this happens all the time and it's only affecting of a small subset of users. Usually these problems rectify themselves but you can always contact support with that code the website spits back at you and they should be able to have the CDN provider fix the problem.

Either that or they really ARE on to you and you should run now.
