Trends, Statistics, and Predictions!

Well. I'm glad they could find the time to RE-announce the Destiny Holiday thing.

EDIT: I'm snarking, and I really shouldn't be. I know new stuff is on the way. I just want SOMEthing. It's been over two months since we've gotten any RPG love. Except for Genesys, that's true. But I don't really count Genesys, because while it's great, it's not Star Wars. Although I suspect it's the reason why we're seeing a lull.

Yeah. Totally sucks... I'm feelin' ya here.

Genesis may be great but it ain't star wars. Oh how much longer can it be? And why no Christmas presents for us? My wife keeps looking for fully operational even though I've told her it' not likely out till late February... now if only I can get her to play...

Lots off movement... merry Christmas FO, cnm, up, and rebellion are all on the boat

Yes! Yes yes YES!!!

Everything but the 30th Anniversary book has moved. I'll update my charts and see if my predictions have changed. It was a longer printing than expected so they might have, but we have movement, at the very least!

Looks like we might be getting some releases in late January maybe some announcements too.

Umm...not really? An announcement in January...I mean, almost certainly. But not releases, unless some of those books were printed in the US like Genesys was. Which would mean all of them releasing in January, because they've been moving together. I DEFINITELY wouldn't mind that, but considering it's likely much more expensive, I very much doubt it'll happen.

Most likely we're still likely looking at March releases, maybe late February.

Okay, stats time!

So, the average time On the Boat (excluding Ghosts, because, well, Ghosts)) is currently ~46.89, or between six and seven weeks. Putting Ghosts back in, we get ~62.5 days, or between eight and nine weeks. So going with the approximate median of seven weeks, we'd see ourselves go to Shipping Now on or around February 8, with release two weeks later on February 22. If we extend it to the nine weeks that a mean including Ghosts, that gets us to Shipping Now on February 22, with release on March 8.

This, of course, doesn't get up around the problem of having four books release on the same day, however :) . I'm still not sure how FFG will get around this, but I'm fairly positive that they don't want four books releasing on the same day. Last year we had Nexus of Power and Special Modifications a week apart, so my guess is something to that effect. So...actually, my current predictions are holding steady. They're probably going to go one per week.

Yay! I'm getting back to being right occasionally! And OHMYFORCEGUYSTHEMYSTICBOOK!!!1!1!1!!!!ISONTHEBOAT GRGRGFFLRGLFLRKFJFHSIHASDJVAFJVHDKFGSDLJFNVGLDFKNGS!!!!11

So as long as we don' get ghosted we should be good for the end of February. Nice. Who knows... maybe to avoid the whole 4 books at once they actually printed two in the USA?

So maybe we'll see more like 1 per 2 weeks for the end of January till end of February? Just mild speculation is all.

Ah I can' wait for FO... And the rest of course but FO!!!

If there's any chance that they printed a book in the USA, I'd think it'd be Fully Operational, and possibly Dawn of Rebellion. It's unlikely, to my mind, but the incredible delay might have led them to the decision to do so.

We can hope!

They were the ones I was thinking were most likely too... we can only hope...

I was going to but thought it may be too cliche...

True as it may be it really is getting used a little much...

Very exciting news!

Here to catch the stuff

Oh great and mighty prophetess, what tidings doth thou bring us as the old year wanes and a new one is born. Please, oh great and mighty prophetess, bless us with thy holy wisdom and show us the future!

Help us Absol. You are our only hope.

Okay, if we don't get a new announcement this month, we know something is very wrong. We've never gone four months* without a new book, save between the announcement of the Edge Core book and Beyond the Rim at the very beginning of this game.

And hopefully it'll be Shlam's Warrior. Since I expected to be in his position myself, I know how awful it must be to be waiting like that :( .

* A clarification: we've never gone five months without a new book; what I meant here was that we've never had four months without an announcement in a row, which we would if we don't get one in January (October, November, December, and January would all be book-less).

We have had two instances where the separation between announcements has been greater than 120 days: between Savage Spirits and Forged in Battle in 2016, and earlier in 2017 between Fully Operational and Cyphers and Masks. But both of those instances there were only three months with no announcement.

It might be possible that FO was printed in the US as they no longer have a preorder ability for this book while they do for the three others. Might it be that they were unsure what the final sticker price might have to be to make up the preorders they had already taken in at a lower price point?

Time will tell. But I’m stoked to get a chance to finally have my Engineer book!

While it is possible that some (or all! Wouldn't THAT be a dream!) of these books were printed in the US, I don't think we can use the fact that Fully Operational doesn't have a pre-order tag on it as evidence that that book in particular was. All three of the other books have had pre-order tags since their announcement, and Fully Operational has never had one. I think it's just a timing issue; FO was announced before FFG started using pre-order tags, so it never got one. Certainly Cyphers and Masks was the first Star Wars RPG book that got one.

I’ll go with your gut on this, you seem to know more about these things!

I mean, I still think there's a greater than 0 chance that one of the books was printed in the US, and if any of them were I'd expect Fully Operational to be at the top of the list!

I just wanted to point out that it's been lacking a pre-order tag since it was announced in March, so the fact it doesn't have one doesn't really have any predictive value.

I don't think that any of the books was printed in the US.

The release of the German version of the Star Wars RPG books has been riddled by delays and problems. One of the German devs mentioned once that one of the many reasons for the delays was the fact that the books could only be printed at a Lucasfilm-licensed printer and not their usual printer. Apparently, the only available printer for the German RPG books was situated in China.

The reason why Genesys was printed in the US could be that FFG was not forced by their Star Wars licensing agreement to choose a Lucasfilm-licensed printer. As Genesys is FFG's own creation, they would have been free to choose any printer.

Of course, that's only a guess based on second-hand information, but I wouldn't bring my hopes up that FFG is now printing Star Wars books in the US.

Thank you for maintaining this great resource! It made planning what would be availabile for my next upcoming Saga a breeze and now I know which books to bundle for pre-order shipping due to proximity of release. Great job my friend!

Hmm. That's logical, sensible, and entirely a bummer :( . Thanks for that data; it's helpful, and backs up my current assumptions.

Woo!

As I said in the Age thread on Dawn, it's not exactly what I've been hoping for (that being Mystic news or a new book), but anything is better than the nothing we've been getting!

Not that we've been getting entirely nothing; we got movement in production a couple weeks ago which is great, but my obsessiveness and impatience can only be restrained for so long without new information to chew over :P !

But it's still good to see :) . I'm waiting with bated breath to see if today will be the day for a new announcement, or if it'll be next week. Or, perhaps, if we're going to break yet another depressing record :( .
