Imperial small-base ship BESIDES a TIE?

By StarWarsDad1138, in X-Wing

I know they're sticking with a theme, but I'd love to see a ship out two without the TIE designation.

I'm not a gunboat fanatic, but I'd certainly enjoy seeing it.

Other ships could include the Eta-2 (we did just get the ARC-170 after all), the v-wing and maybe the Imperial patrol transport (though I can't tell if it was actually vacuum-capable).

What other ships are there? Am I just crazy?

Gunboat is all we need, then more TIEs!!!

TIE Avenger and Assault Gunboat.

The theme of imperials is the TIE, it's a standardize military that contracts all it's ships with one company.

If you are looking for variety, might I suggest the Scum faction?

They are trying to have it so Imperial players are saturated with Sieener Fleet Systems ships so when we get something else we can be so amazed by it, only for them to tell us that afterwards we are only able to buy more Sieener Fleet Systems units. "Here is one Gunboat, and 10 more Tie variants."

Lol. I've never seen ANY military with full uniformity. There is always someone (usually higher up the command chain) thinking outside the box, relics not yet officially retired, that kind of thing.

Additionally, there are always non-fighter support craft: tugs, repair craft, etc.

Yes, we have the lambda and the TIE Shuttle, but that can't be it.

I am sick of TIEs.

The Scimitar Bomber isn't technically a TIE, but it is definitely aesthetically similar. I think the gunboat/missileboat is really your only hope.

This is a futuristic Galaxy dominating super military that rose from a magic old puppet master of extreme head controlling powers, so I think it's comparison to a real life military is a moot point. All the people that "Think outside the box" in the imperials have to still think within the Emperor's vision, which seems to be Ties.

Shuttle's are support craft, and there are 3 shuttles that could make it to this game but still are closing linked in a visual sense, but honestly in the aesthetic of the world of Star Wars, Imperials are a uniformed entity and it's the way it's been since it's creation in the movies. (Only old EU material threw in different designs and stated they were imperial)

modern military isnt completely uniform due to lack of resources. Know why the US Airforce still has these ancient planes? They work. And our attempt at making a modern one was a bad idea (f-22). Theres a reason the F22 is already deemed out of production and only in service long as parts are available/fixable. It costs somewhere around 3x that of an F-15 and doesnt do much more.

Imperial Empire is so vast and so rich in resources they can pump out a Victory Star Destroyer in a month or less. And man it. To the point where they literally dont pay attention to costs. They can easily be completely uniform in mass production.

Um.......please?

Missileboat?!

*sigh*

Yes, I know people want the gunboat/missile boat. I played TIE Fighter too. Heck, I still have my original CD for it. We ALL know people want the gunboat. What else you got?

Chiss clawcraft. I swear it's not a TIE!

... Okay, yeah, it's just a glorified TIE Interceptor.

I actually would love to see the Chiss clawcraft. Not strictly Empire, more an Imperial ally, and I like that idea.

What of other subfactions would fall under the umbrella of the Empire?

If they made it, they'd call it the Tie Missile boat. Then, you'd get what you wanted and didn't want all at once.

Well, in Legends you had Kuat Drive Yards' own attempt at a disposable mass-produced fighter like the TIE series, the A-9 Vigilance :

Of course, TIEs are better-looking fighters and the Vigilance would basically be a weaker TIE Interceptor, so I doubt there'd be much demand for it.

There's the large base Ye-4, which is a Shuttle with a turret in the front! Shuttle dial, 3 PWT or Turret upgrade cards perhaps? (Large base though)

Was going to say, yes there is the Claw Craft from EU and also... from deep dark EU that I hope never gets spawned:

The Cyl- Shadow Droid

LOVE ties....keep em coming.

OK, so everyone knows the Gunboat is at the top of any list outside TIEs and adding function to the rear guns of the Lambda, but, you could put an Anakin Galactic Republic fighter in the mix...

How about my old wish, the Preybird! Make it cross factional for Empire and Scum. The first ship to shoot Missiles out of its rear arc.

A Missile counterpart to Nera, who shoots Torpedoes out of every arc?

Missile Boat and Gunboat, please. That's all I ask for.
