Best X Wing App?

By pelican, in X-Wing

I use Android. I use X-Wing Squad Builder sometimes (it's pretty good), but mostly I just use the Chrome shortcut I set up to (Yet Another) X-Wing Squad Builder. It works very well in the browser, and should be fairly platform-indifferent. I use (YA)XSB because it extends from PC to tablet to phone, seamlessly.

So, are there any good X-Wing aids for Android?

This and this are what I use.

Cant save on android even if i set permissions to write storage.

Did you, or anyone else manage to get around this?

It's worked fine on my previous phone, just refuses to save lists on a new one (Android 6.0, was 5.1 earlier). I've forced the "write to storage" permission on, via apps' settings (the Builder itself didn't ask for permissions when being installed or ran the first time), but that didn't help at all.

Whenever I attempt to save it appears to work fine, and as long as the app resides in RAM it'll recall the "saved" lists. As soon as I close it for good, on reopening, the lists are gone.

Interestingly enough, "Collection" would persist, it's just those **** lists. Exporting them doesn't work either. Its says the export was successful, but nothing is actually saved.

Squad building? They are all the same to me. I use X-wing Squadron Builder just out of randomness that is what ended up on my phone. I do like that it has the epic ships in it. Not all of them do and it's annoying to try to play Epic without them in there.

Personally, I love X-wing Companion. It is not a squad builder, though. It stores all the cards and info in about as many ways as you can want to look them up. Look up the ships and pilots....but then you can click on all the sub upgrade cards you can get...like crew or EPT or...etc. You can also look at just the upgrade cards, too. It tells you want products they come in so you don't have to figure that out. You can also look at things via blister pack, so you can figure out what you get with each product. It just....amazing in all that it does for looking up and reading about all the different stuff in X-wing. It just doesn't build lists.

Startactics is a good squadron builder that also allows you to do all the things listed here. It is on Android, I'm unsure about ios.

startactics also has a cloud storage system.

to be honest I just use the web version of Another Squadron Builder.

Best one for me is X-Wing Squads Designer for both inventory and squad building purposes (Android -only). And I'd like to try this one just for fun: X-Wing Templates AR . It uses augmented reality for checking ranges and template placement.

I don't think you can get better than Aurora on iOS. It runs smoothly, has a lot of features, and is constantly updated.

Unfortunately, the Android version is a bit buggier, runs slower, and crashes relatively often for me (I've recently made the jump to Android).

But Aurora on iOS is all I'd ever recommend.

Startactics forever! The developer is even faster than me at looking for spoilers and news of xwing, and i'm always here refreshing the page XD actually now I control for his app updates before the ffg website

Since this has popped back up, still running with Startactics and it's as great as ever. semi relevant, but definitely worth calling out for any Android users is "Mark 13: X-wing Solo AI" which is nice to have an app for and they are quick about making updates as well.

I love Startactics and use it for list building, but I often find myself using X-Wing Companion quite a bit too because the layout is a lot easier to look up a particular category i.e. elite, modification, ship, etc.
