Does anyone have any info on the Civil War rules with Princes of the Sun? How many players does it support? The little bit I saw about it said it is played with a single deck. Is it fully playable with just the cards that come with Princes of the Sun?
Civil War?
From a quick read through the rules, it's pretty much regular AGoT from a single deck. It supports 2 to 6 players, I think, with 100 cards in the deck for 2 and then 20 cards added for each additional player. All the cards need to be from the same house, though neutrals are okay. And there can't be more than one copy of a unique character. All the other rules in the varient are just clarifications on how to handle cards that tell you to search your deck or manipulate the discard pile. In all, there's not much to it. I was kind of disappointed. Kingsmoot struck me as a true varient method of play, while Civil War doesn't do a whole lot.
Civil War could be a good use for all the CCG cards I've got kicking around, since I don't feel like making 4-6 separate decks when my friends want to play.
sounds interesting to me.
Sounds very good to me.
I'm just a casual player, and when I went to Castle Stahleck I got slaughtered in the tournaments
So a variant like this that supports casual gaming is just what I need.
Thanks for the info. It does sound a little simpler than I had hoped.
It does sound like a good way to play when you don't have time to optimize everyone's decks.
100 cards for two players with no duplicate uniques? Sounds like you can't just play with Martell right out of the box, then?
It's only no duplicates on unique cards. I think you can have multiple copies of everything else.
My problem with the variant isn't that it doesn't look like fun but that it doesn't offer anything that most players would've come up with on their own if someone said, "Hey, let's all play out of the same deck." I was looking for something maybe a little more interesting than that.
