Is Soontir Fel canon now?!

By Cybermat47, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Everyone's going insane after watching the Rebels season 3 trailer and seeing Thrawn made canon again, but there was something else that caught my eye.

I'll admit, I don't know much about the 181st Imperial Fighter Group, but I do recognise those red stripes. And Soontir Fel is the most famous pilot of the Group, so it isn't hard to imagine that he's canon now.

It is entirely possible. But, we will have to wait to see the episodes.

I would guess that the concept of "flight barons" as mentioned in the TFA Visual Dictionary, plus Valen Rudor from Rebels being a Baron, were nods to Fel, even if he hasn't appeared yet.

We are now 100% assured of this. We can now official say that this is canon: Red Stripes!

That just means TIE Interceptors with Red Stripes are canon. Not that Fel is.

Though we're getting Wedge in this season, so I could see Wedge and Fel being at odds with each other about betraying the Empire.

It would be cool, but I'm skeptical that we'll see him just yet.

They'll canonize him, but they'll pronounce his name all funky like "Sunter Fuel" and you'll be stuck saying it that way from now on.

Just because they brought back Thrawn, I don't think there's now going to be these open floodgates of Legends characters showing up in Rebels. As much as Filoni and co love and respect Legends stuff, they don't do things just 'cause. they also have to consider how it adds to the story etc.

They've already said no Mara and no Dash. So let's just be satisfied with Thrawn for now.

Fel would be awesome. But I really doubt we'll see him.
