So, to be perfectly honest, I'm not entirely clear on how starship rules work. Does your turn indicate that you moved forward one range increment and unsuccessfully attempted to use the scattered debris field to your advantage?
Shadows and Dust OOC
No, speed is separate to movement. I'm circling around the big ship, not moving "to" a place, just staying within a box or zone. but I'm going faster than I was because I put effort into accelerating. While circling I was looking for a good path through the debris to flank the Sith, I didn't find said path but some kind of luck will make my next check more effective.
If I had also made a Fly maneuver then I could have gotten closer to the Sith, based on the current speed of the vehicle I'm in.
In some instances the Difficult terrain will force a Piloting check to move through it. This is usually when the terrain is "very" difficult. If that check was failed then the Fly maneuver would be wasted as there was no clear path through.
Ah, gotcha
Ren-Do will also accelerate, keeping up with Rin, and try to plot a course.
I just realized I need to probably include the initiatives for the Jedi NPCs in the Nexu Squadron, including Micc'm...
I'll include them in the next round.
Also, because I don't want to kill you guys off, I'm dropping the size of the Sith Squadrons from 5 to 3
Two of the squadrons will maneuver forward one range increment
, then begin to fire upon the Jedi Cruiser, since it has the largest silhouette. Giving them two setback for the debris field, and an additional two setback from the swarming Nexu Squadron mucking up their targeting array.
PC slot now
Edited by ProphytSo if the Sith squadrons are firing on ten cruiser does that mean they are in close range (e.g., within our weapons range)?
Nope. I made a mistake. They're still out at long
Edit: never mind, my question was answered above.
IC post coming hopefully in an hour or so.
Edited by ColonelCommissarAlso, what is our current Speed?
The cruiser is in geosynchronous orbit above Nerit. So effectively 0. However, Nexu is flying formations around it. I assume speed 1. Maybe higher for those who accelerated
Next check gets a Setback for Kymrel's threats
Are there any checks involved in accelerating and moving to attack the Sith? And could I make a Leadership check to encourage the other pilots?
Flying a range increment closer without fancy flying is just a maneuver. You can spend your action for a Leadership check to encourage one of the group's of Jedi starships to follow you. DD. Add the setback if you're taking the next slot
Does moving two range increments cost me two personal strain or system strain?
Leadership check
:
4eA+2eD+1eS
0 successes, 5 advantage
I believe it would cause system strain
Actually, moving 2 range increments would cause 2 system strain AND 2 strain on the pilot. I just looked it up. Also, dang that's an impressively unsuccessful roll
Could I have one fighter follow me, giving me an upgrade on my first Gunnery check, while my words give a floating boost to the next PC to act? I'll only move one increment.
Edited by ColonelCommissarUnfortunately, because your check wasn't a success, none of the other pilots were inspired to follow Xaramis. However, because he was particularly eloquent, the 4 pilots in Micc'm's wing will link their targeting computers to Xaramis's, giving him an upgrade to his next Gunnery check.
I'll take that. I'll post IC as soon as possible.
I need to amend my earlier post. Since the Sith started at extreme range, they need to maneuver twice before they get to Long range. Editing the initiative spreadsheet to include ranges relative to the Jedi cruiser and various speeds
How much vehicle combat can we expect in this game?
Edit: changed space to vehicle as the same rules are applied to ground and space.
Edited by LastAbysHopefully not too much XD
I'm fine with vehicle combat, and as a soldier, the bigger they are. . . .
I'm quite enjoying the space combat. I've got my copy of The Essential Guide to Warfare open on the page with fighter pilot slang, for when the dogfight properly gets going.
If there is more vehicle combat we might want to discuss what fighter craft the group would want. For ground, minimally we could just get along with an airspeeder with a mounted E-web. Or that could just be unnecessary.
