Shadows and Dust OOC

If you were thinking warlord, you could do a lot worse than Merc. Soldier.

I'm a big fan of Medic. I played a colonist doctor and I enjoyed it a lot, but Medic just feels objectively better for more combat-centric games. You can be a real tough character and still be a proficient healer.

Edit: I also loved playing Warlord in 4e. "I Wield the barbarian"

That brings up a good question, is cross career tree grabbing going to be allowed? Like if I grabbed medic, would I also be able to buy doctor if I had the XP?

I know some GMs don't want people to go out of career.

You don't know how happy I am with hearing other people enjoyed the Warlord from 4e. Everywhere else out in RL, people are hating on 4e. It had its pros and cons, but it was the first table top I've ever played and it has my heart.

But yes, you need to have Garon go to Lothal for some cats.

I was big into 4e a few years back. I still like it, but I have far less free time than I used to. So at this point in my life, I prefer games with less prep involved.

I feel the closest analog to warlord would be a combination of Poltico and Tactician.

Or Warleader from Keeping the Peace, but you did say you didn't necessarily want a Force User.

After some thought, albeit not a lot as I was busy with stuff at home, I had a couple ideas.

1. Going Soldier: Medic. It's a good tree in a good career. Gruff patcher-up type of dude.

-Don't know how an Age built character would go. (But hey, that's why I'm posting it)

2. Smuggler: Scoundrel or Gambler. Some person who knows the ins and outs of all the shady alleyways, someone who can get in contact with Fixers and gear. Nar Shadda being his home away from home.

3. Droid Technician: Outlaw tech. Gear builder. Random inventions.

I don't think you need to worry too much about what the others are playing, if you will be a "reserve" player you will probably not play much until one of us needs a break, or needs to stop playing the game.

That said, Ren-Do covers medical skills fairly decently. He has a good intellect, a rank in Medicine and in the Protector tree there are talents similar to the ones in the Medic tree. That said, it never hurts to have a second person capable of patching people up.

The smuggler seems to focus on a skillset similar to what Xaramis focuses on.

That leaves the droid. We currently don't have a player who focuses on computers and mechanics, so there is that.

Having said all that I think you should pick whatever you feel like playing, and not worry too much about it for now...

What would Ren-Do know about holocrons, and how to activate them, once open? Would you speak to it? Think at it? Use the Force to concentrate on it?

*whisper* touch it~

But more to the point, holocrons, at least during the era of the Clone Wars and the years leading up to it, were only accessible by Masters or those accompanied by Masters, so Ren-Do may not have seen any before. Also, this is very unlike any other holocron in the galaxy

There's currently a damaged and deactivated 300 year old HK-55 in the ship if you don't mind playing a droid character

The second Xaramis touches the light floating above the center of the square, blue light fills the ship and the minds of all on board...

[End of Session 1]

Hm. It seems the forum has deleted the second sentence. Here it is again: Xaramis loses his hand in an explosion of blood, bone and flesh and quickly determines that his policy to try anything once is unsustainable, even before he tries to wrestle a silverback Gundark.

:P

Everyone gains 30 experience for the harrowing experience aboard Aurora Grey . You may now consider this downtime (while you're all unconscious, in case that wasn't entirely clear lol). Jedi characters, please roll to resolve conflict. Jedi characters now also have access to either Mechanics or Piloting (Space) as a class skill due to the influence of the holocron. Veltok may choose to receive a free rank in one of those skills, if he does, his strain threshold decreases by 1.

After you're all done spending experience and other mechanical choices, feel free to roll for your Destiny Pool for session 2.

This is where your campaign diverges from my local Saturday night group.

Warn me if I'm being too generous

Edited by Prophyt

That was surprising:

Morality roll : 1d10-6 3

Warn me if I'm being too generous

Not at all. Good progression in PbP games really keeps players committed ;)

Here is my XP expenditure:

-Skill: Knowledge (Lore) 1 rank @ 5xp
-Skill: Mechanics 1 rank @ 5 xp
-Talent: Toughened @ 5xp
-Talent: Body Guard @ 5xp
-Force Power: Sense - Control @ 10xp
Morality roll:
Morality roll : 1d10-3 1
So morality increases to 51.
And here is the roll for the destiny pool:
Destiny roll : 1eF 1 Dark Side

So I'd be permanently (not taking into account grabbing any ranks of grit in the future) reducing my ST by one to get a free rank of either skill, correct? Also, just curious, all minds onboard?

Edited by sonovabith

That's correct.

All the PCs...you know, a couple of feral womprats

Kellen Conflict roll:

Conflict : 1d10 7

So he gains 7 Morality.

Destiny Pool : 1eF 1 Dark Side
f-ds.png

I'll spend the XP some time today

Delightful

Spending 10 XP each to gain a second rank of both ranged light and coercion. Spending 5 XP each to snag a rank of toughened and intimidating. Passing on the free rank of either mechanics because Tok's ST is crap already.

Desinty pool : 1eF 1 Light Side
Edited by sonovabith

Sonya will take the Mechanics career skill.

Raise Lightsaber skill to rank 2@10 xp

Take Mechanics skill at rank 1@ 5 xp

Take Conditioned talent @5 xp

Take Dodge talent @10 xp

Her morality roll

morality session 1 : 1d10 3

So her morality is now 53.

Destiny for session 2:

destiny for session 2 : 1eF 2 Dark Side

I have a bad feeling about this.

Excellent. The Destiny Pool is shaping up nicely.

I'm already mentally composing the beginning of session 2, for when you guys are ready

In my home game, our force user was being mind controlled and he uttered the fateful words "I throw the Wookiee." He proceeded to use move to hurl our wookiee marauder into the party. The bright side is we realized it's actually beneficial to the group because the wookiee has a soak of 9 so they can do their version of the Fastball Special to get the marauder to engaged quicker and the 1 wound he takes can activate his wookiee rage. It's wonderfully cheesetastic.
