Shadows and Dust OOC

By Prophyt, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

This is probably where I should mention to you all Tok is going to end up betraying the party. He was hired by the Empire to watch over the dig and report back his findings. His family's life was threatened and, hopefully I've done a good enough job with his characterization that you guys OOC won't be too upset with me from keeping this from you this long. Prophyt asked me in private to be the traitor and I agreed because I thought it made for a really really interesting RP position. I see it as a Lando betrayal though, not an Agent Grant Ward level betrayal. I'm hoping he can be redeemed and the understanding Jedi will understand he had no choice and may even offer to help him save his family.

Anyway, I hope this doesn't color any in game stuff. I think we're all good enough to prevent that OOC info from bleeding into the IC stuff. FWIW, he really does plan to protect the Jedi, but it's not for altruistic reasons. He's tremendously conflicted.

As am I, frankly. I really hope nobody's upset about it being kept a secret. Prophyt can tell you, I've been PMing a bit trying to figure out the right way to break the news.

That should be fun to see it all played out.

Edit: And no, I didn't get that impression at all.

Also, I'm evil.

It will be interesting to see. You really shouldn't have said anything! Ruin the surprise like that...

And these are Jedi from 4000 years ago. From a time when the Jedi code was roughly "Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, execution for betrayal." I'm paraphrasing but you get the gist.

Of course I'm joking. Just be glad nobody is playing an angry wookiee.

I was super conflicted about whether to say anything or not. I've just always played that PCs keep secrets from each other, but players don't.

I'm not really expecting it to be a very challenging task to open the hangar bay doors, asking Xaramis to help was mostly done to get him alone to give him the whole Force-sales pitch. If there is any check required to hit the big red button to open the doors, just let me know.

"What do I have to do to get you into these Jedi robes today?"

He he, not so far off. We have the brown robes at a 50% discount today, and for you I'll throw in some free training and a lovely glowstick with a metallic finish on the handle free of charge. The offer is valid only today, so don't wait, sign up now!

Is it okay to do the meet the group post for Sonya?

"What do I have to do to get you into these Jedi robes today?"

Well Xaramis usually looks to remove clothes, but that's because he's either robbing them off your back or something else entirely. :D

Yes it is. Once you post, I'll get a GM post in

Hey sonovabith that's awesome, I love a little PC conflict, that should be fun when they finally realise. Definitely not upset that's for sure.

Rin will be helping drag the droid onboard, or at least up the loading ramp, then he will be drawn to the cockpit to intuitively sit in the copilot seat and start looking over the Nav comp. I'll IC it when the whole Sonya intro has gone down

You guys ready to see Tok's heart break? Go read the IC thread XD

So, is there any check required, or is it literally just a matter of hitting the big red button?

Also, for clarity, the tanned man aiming for Rin is presumably aiming through the cockpit window, right? Unless this blaster is something out of Men in Black he won't be able to hurt him. The rest of us are a different story.

Man, you are brutal...

Yeah he's aiming more or less at the cockpit's transparent aluminium or whatever

Look, I said I was Evil. Twice.

What's the size of the ship's crew? Would Xaramis know the strength of the destroyer's complement? Is there any way to get to an intercom and warn the crew to go for an escape pod? And am I the only one who thinks that the best plan at this point is to just board the ship and not metagame our awareness of an anti-hyperspace tractor beam?

So, what about the first question? Any check required to open the hangar doors, or is it just a button Ren-Do will need to push when the time is right?

Boarding the ship and leaving without trying to warn the crew would be very out of character for Ren-Do, and likely other Jedicicles. I would assume that the station where the doors can be opened has a communications station and at the very least he will broadcast the intentions of the Imperials as he opens the door.

But I think the logical thing to do is save some of the people. That is, the ones present in the hangar now. Unless we realize just how few troops the ADZ destroyer usually has.

Honestly, I expect you guys to cut and run. Warning the crew to escape in pods would likely get them killed just as easily

It is. But it's the principle of the thing, you see.

Also, the question about how to open the hangar door?

Push the tiny blue button below the big red button

Not to mention my raft of questions.

Besides, we need for a certain member of the crew to escape, otherwise The Jewel of Yavin will make no sense!

Eh? I don't get it...
