Shadows and Dust OOC

By Prophyt, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Okay so my memory was off. According to Wookieepedia, Ossus was consumed by the effects of the Cron Cluster detonation in 3996 BBY. I thought it was 2996 BBY.

Current year is 2 BBY

Edited by Prophyt

Ohh, so we are 4 millennia old, fair cop, so what significant thing happened prior to the Treaty of Coruscant?

So we are older than we thought! So the year when we entered the cryo-tubes was 3996 BBY. That would make it year 21,057 Coruscant Standard Calendar. Perhaps we should just stick to using that date?

This means that if the current year is 2BBY most people would refer to it as year 3651 ATC (After the Treaty of Coruscant), and it is in fact 25,051 Cosuscant Standard Calendar.

I apologize for the misinformation, everyone

No worries, I've updated the date of birth on my sheet.

Interesting side-note. I've been doing a bit of research, just for fun. And yes, that's a fancy way to say I've been browsing Wookieepedia. But I found one interesting fact. The Jedi of old actually didn't wear the robes we associate with the order. Not at all. They mostly wore armor. When in battle with the Sith they would wear their battle armor.

I don't think we need to worry about that for this game. We have already established how our characters look, and ret-conning that just for the sake of some Legends material seems unnecessary. Besides, we will never be able to afford what ever armor the Jedi of old considered to be battle armor!

That's fine. I know it's not quite the right thing for a proper story but for everyone's ease should we just stick to the BBY date system, to reduce the number of conversions we have to do.

Well, I've got some reading to do XD

Hopefully I can get an IC post in for you guys this morning before I leave for work.

Okay. Now that I have my CRB handy...

kaosoe: Garon suffers 1 Conflict for "Resorting to Violence as the First Solution" when awaking in the cryostasis chamber and a further 3 Conflict for "Unnecessary Destruction" when he wrecked said cryostasis chamber.

ColonelCommissar: Xaramis suffers 2 Conflict for "Inflicting Emotional Abuse" towards Ren-Do, even if he couldn't understand most of what Xaramis said to him

That's out of the way *cough*

I need all Force Sensitives in the cargo hold to make Cool or Discipline checks, DDSSS is your difficulty. Please, everyone, refrain from making IC posts until after all the results are in and I can make an IC post reflecting them.

sonovabith: I need you to make a Perception or Vigilance check DDSS

Discipline Check : 2eA+1eP+2eD+3eS 2 failures, 1 advantage
a--.png a-a-a.png p-a-a.png d-th.png d-f-th.png s-f.png s--.png s-th.png

Ouch. Not good odds. Discipline check for Ren-Do

Discipline check : 1eA+1eP+2eD+3eS 1 failure, 2 threat

Here goes:

Perception : 2eA+1eP+2eD+2eS 4 failures, 2 advantage
So that went poorly.

Good thing about your Perception check, sonovabith, is that Tok just fails to notice anything that happens for the next few moments.

The Jedicicles won't be so lucky, unfortunately.

So really, this all turns out just fine for Tok. He won't get nightmares from seeing what will happen to the Jedicicles since he will be completely oblivious...

By the by, the setback for the Jedicicles are caused by the nearly 4000 years of cryosleep, the disorientation of being confronted by beings who don't speak the right "language", and anxiety from being unsure as to whether these newcomers are allied with the Galactic Republic or the Sith Empire [hint: the answer is neither lol]

Tok's setback come from the annoying Jedicicles wrecking the cargo bay and the captain treating him like a child.

As an afterthought, let's change the difficulty of Xaramis's check to DCS *flips a Destiny Point* his only setback is the language barrier, but the upgraded difficulty is because he is fully unprepared for what's going to happen IC once I get all the results.

Would my innate ability to sense living beings and their emotional state come in handy to help me out of failing the check? Possibly in coordination with my 2 advantage?

Edited by sonovabith

*cough* That might actually make things worse for you, but it would have given me an excuse to make Tok suffer strain, had you rolled any threat lol

Ooooooooooookay then, never mind. lol

To what use can my advantage be put?

Recovering strain, give an ally a boost

"Best to put it in youngling mode," he muttered quietly to himself, as he removed the crystal and adjusted the emitter to work without it.

A light saber will not work without something in the crystal chamber. Kellen might have had a Training Emitter (see equipment chapter in the F&D core book) in his beltpouch for sparring with younglings that he can slot in. I'm going to have Ren-Do's crystal damaged by the cryo-tube, able to emit a weakened blade only, which will have equivalent power to a training saber. You could go down that road too, or have the crystal destroyed and a training emitter at hand.

I thought the training lightsaber had an empty crystal chamber and had a training emitter instead of the standard emitter. I was going for the idea that the standard emitter could be adjusted to be a training emitter.

I couldn't think of a good reason why Kellen wou have a training emitter in his possession but I like your suggestion.

Then I'll use my two advantage to put a floating boost out there. Whomever would like it may use it.

Kellen - Discipline Check : 2eA+2eD+3eS 0 successes, 3 threat

a-a.png a-a.png d--.png d-th-th.png s-th.png s-th.png s-th.png

I'll take the boost!

Add a Boost to Discipline Check : 1eB 0 successes, 2 advantage

So that's a net 1 Threat

Here is the relevant text from the equipment section of the F&D. Seems clear that the emitter would replace the crystal. Is, in fact, a crystal...

TRAINING LIGHTSABER EMITTER
In the days of the Republic, the Jedi allowed their younglings to train with "training sabers," non-lethal versions of their famous energy blades. A training lightsaber is almost the same as a standard lightsaber; however, the crystal is replaced with a training emitter. The training emitter creates a blade that is completely non-lethal, and at most can generate a stun shock. A training emitter is a lightsaber crystal.
Models Include: None.
Base Modifiers: Installing this crystal changes a lightsaber's damage to 6 and its critical rating to - , and the lightsaber gains the Stun Damage quality. If the crystal is ever removed, the lightsaber loses this quality and reverts to its previous base damage and critical rating.
Modification Options: None.
Hard Points Required: 2.

Cost: 100 credits.

Thanks for looking it up.

I've updated my IC post to reflect it.
