THRAWN IS OFFICIALLY BACK IN CANON!

By Boba Rick, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

If we don't get a Thrawn miniature at some point, I will be sorely disappointed.

I'm fine if he never shows up in IA, but he belongs in Armada and I know he will wind up there.

He looks and sounds dumb... but atleast he is official now.

Needs to be darker blue, loose the eyeshadow and get a more menacing voice.

EDIT: I'm sorely dissapointed they said no Mara Jade... that ******* sucks.

Well who knows maybe given time they will let Timothy Zahn bring her back, considering he is already writing a new Trawn book that is set to come out this coming spring.

Nice trailer. I just have to laugh at people who don't like Rebels, it's so much better than the last 4 movies and based on it's trailer, the next movie too.

Compared to all the other artwork of him in the past... he doesn't look intimidating at all.

Wheeeeeeee!!

And I still think we will get a Mara Jade. Who else gives birth to Rey? Luke himself? LoL...

Does he have four pens in his pockets? Man, he means BUSINESS.

Hahaha That's a good one! Nothing makes me think of Star Wars like graffitied Tie Fighters, Hardy and Laurelesque Imperial officers, and Lando having "get rich" schemes dealing with inflatable aardvarks! And that's just the first season! If the first season of Rebels did anything for me, it was give me a newfound respect for Jar Jar!

To be fair season 2 is much better than the first, though there is a clear growth in quality over the first season.

Its nice theyre skipping a few years and the characters have "grown" a bit.

I'll lay out my problems with Rebels quickly. It is way to kiddie. That's fine if that's what you want, but I expect at least young adult, i.e. The Clone Wars which Rebels is not. The crew of the ghost is not great. I like Hera, the rest suck. I cannot stand Zeb and Sabine. I see they are going to advance Ezra couple of years, but the last two seasons he's been awful. I'm tired of recycled material like Darth Maul. His resurrection was a joke to begin with, but now its looking at absurd in the review mirror, and it's disappearing mighty fast. I didn't like Ahsoka much in TCW, but her appearance here is better, but now she carries the weight for a bunch of simplistic caricatures. The animation is terrible. Compare it to TCW and they must have had their budge slashed drastically to produce such a poor facsimile. There are a few good moments, but they are few and far between. Most of the time it doesn't raise to the level of up and coming 3D artist on a 3D forum. I honestly don't know why everyone wants a boxed set of Rebels. I could see an ally pack or two, but the heroes in IA are already much more compelling without any backgrounds than the Rebels crew is. And I don't want to even get into the corny disposable keystone-stormtroopers.

Lame. I don't "mind" when canon in a universe is wiped, or when a universe is reset, or when there's an "alternate" universe.

But I think it's boring as hell when those things happen and the result is something that's 99% the same, just a little different. Why bother, then? Oh, Ultimate Marvel where everyone's a bit different? Oh, a Star Trek reboot where everything is the same except Khan is white and someone can beam from Earth to Kronos? Oh, A Star Wars canon reboot, but here's all your favorite characters back, different enough that we can do some other stories, but not different enough for anyone to have to do real work to establish them? How boring. How predictable. And yet... people love it and I can't say I that I consume none of the above, so I suppose I'm part of the problem.

There has been a lot of kiddie Star Wars content since what, the Christmas special in 1978? It's going to happen.

You don't see people (seriously at least) yelling that they want a Christmas special boxed set around here though unlike they do for Rebels.

Anyways, they are two different kinds of kiddie things. The Christmas Special and Ewoks are like innocent kiddie stuff.... Rebels is like punk/kids opposing adults and society. (I.E. being annoying)

Rebels is too kiddie... Have any of you watched ROTJ? This was always meant to be a PG rated series (barring one PG-13 movie which was beautifully darker in content). I really don't know what everyone's problem is with Rebels. It has some good stories, it has some questionable choices, it's entertaining. The characters have developed somewhat (except maybe Sabine). It at least feels more like the Star Wars universe to me then TFA.

And anyway, complain about Thrawn being declared legends, and then complain when the EXACT SAME CHARACTERIZATION is made canon. Next you'll be boycotting a rerelease in which Han shoots first... smh

My issue is that while they're "keeping" Thrawn as a character in the SW Canon, they're at the same time destroying previous parts of canon in the process. Some of my fondest memories are from the PC game "TIE Fighter". In there, Thrawn plays a major part of the story line. Thing is, he is introduced as an Admiral and promoted during the course of the game. I realize this is a relatively minor nit-pick. But added it to the other things we see (lighter skin, eye shadow, eye color, etc.) and we might as well have an entirely new Chiss wearing a white outfit.

I think it would have been a better story/arc to have Thrawn in Rebels as a captain/commander and perhaps receive a commendation to Admiral. You wouldn't be affecting established canon (as far as I know) and it would make more sense considering the timeline. I'll continue to watch Rebels, as I've enjoyed both seasons so far. But since I was never a fan of TCW, and Rebels seems to be going more in that direction, my hopes for season 3 aren't as high.

I know I sure wouldn't want a kid opposing adults and society in Star Wars.

More like he's official canon for the first time. Since the EU was never top tier official canon. Hope we do see him in the game though.

Not sure why so much hate for Rebels. The tone may be somewhat light at times but it doesn't shy from dark things either.

Nice try, but Luke was atleast 18 years old in A New Hope. Plus he wasn't running around with an energy slingshot like Dennis the Menace. But keep trying Rebel's fanboy.

Your "point" is based on the notion that Luke would be a legal adult on earth at the time of ANH? lol okay. I've never watched Rebels at all, it doesn't interest me in the least. But maybe you should post better, as the heroes in Star Wars spend almost 100% of the time opposing authority. It's in their very name. Come on now, man. You don't like the more youth-oriented stuff in Star Wars, fine. But let's not kid ourselves about that being a significant part of the foundation upon which the entire property is built.
