REBELS SEASON THREE TRAILER SPOILERRIFFIC!!!!

By Tailsgod, in X-Wing

Do you know why Heir to the empire was so good?

Really, because Star Wars was DEAD when it came out, I mean there was nothing going on, no pulse.

West End Games had been bringing out Star Wars stuff for a while though.

AND WE PLAYED THE-HEL-OUT OF IT...

 :D :)

Holy crap, R22 was so outraged that he copy-pasted the same post into two threads. Yikes.

Haha, I wasn't outraged. I just made the first post and then realized this might be a better thread. Don't mean to double down inappropriately.

We're all pumped mate!

Yeah we are... now that I have GRAND Admerial done... I am working on my REBELS again... just got Hera done tonight in fact.

:D

You sorry-MF'ers gonna like my (our) Hera or what?

Dirty-dam-doggs...hateful... mean... anti-precipitant even.

The WEG SWRPG was the only SW product during the dark times. That was it, one role playing game. Outside of that very niche market (you know, folks who didn't play D&D or GURPS) there was NOTHING.

NOTHING.

SW had been a fad as far as the world was concerned.

And then, Zahn. As if from. No where the 'sequel' to SW hit the book shelves and became and instant hit. Was it good? Yeah it was ok. Was it SW? It felt like SW, at least in parts. But it was also pretty corny in parts too. That trilogy deserves its recognition for jump starting the interest in SW in the 90s and proving the market still exists, but it certainly wasn't outstanding writing. It was OK. It did its job. And had a crappy resolution. And is now most to contradicted by NU CANON anyway. Move along.

It also featured ZERO Gunboats. For shame.

I hear you Brah. A great RPG happens when you have a good game being played by excellent players with a GM that knows his power to inspire and duty to the group.

The world is full of stupids that want to be on the jerry springer show

Idea for a grand admiral Thrawn Crew card.

Discard this card at the manoeuvre stage to force your opponent to lock in their dials and put them face up before you select you manoeuvres.

Once time use.

8 points.

2 crew slots.

Am not sure how badly this would brake the game. If used a just the right time it could be massive. But it seems to fit the character.

So I got the whole crew done this week... and it was a fun little project.

The Emotes are shown here at a two hundred percent increase of their original size; which is about half the size they are when I actually paint them.

We all show our love of STAR WARS in our own way, this is one of my favorites... then we get to play games with the models too! Thanks FFG!

Please no. Cloning was the worst part of all Zahn's books in which it appeared.

The second worst part was Thrawn.

"Oh, I think the Rebels will do this!"

Then they do exactly that.

"I knew they'd do it!"

I know Zahn put out the first SW anything since RotJ, but having reread his books recently, they are TERRIBLE.

Huh, I totally understand if you feel cheated that way (I certainly remember far too many lines like "Just as Admiral so and so predicted" in Star Wars books). But I never felt that way with Thrawn. What stood out to me about those books was that Thrawn was a competent villain that actually explained enough of his logic to make his deductions believable. If you didn't buy the logic, totally ok if you feel cheated by it. But it's something I always felt Zahn did rather well.

i do not know if it has been said yet but Zahn is also writing for season 3 as well.

Not coincidentally, Timothy Zahn was co-author of, by far, the best SW RPG campaign, the DarkStryder campaign.

I really, really want a scene where Thrawn is studying Ahsoka's battle tactics from the Clone Wars, and nods approvingly. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ceiGWj0BGHI

I agree. Too often, authors try to write a military genius as simply being somewhere akin to omniscient. You end up with commanders who know things just because they're that awesome, which just makes them come across as ridiculous plot devices, and usually makes their demise (usually by being outwitted) all the cheesier. With Thrawn, he may come across that way initially, but as the story goes on, you find he has sources for his information and reasons for deductions, and he comes across as a brilliant, though not infallible, military leader.

A huge part in Thrawns believability is Pallaeon. I appreciate that character a lot, he really binds the imperial side together in the Thrawn trilogy.

Agreed. I really like Pelleon's subsequent portrayal in the Hand of Thrawn duology where he starts to display the same logical deductions that he learned from Thrawn.

True, though I also appreciate that he never gets to the stage of Thrawn 2.0, which is a very tempting trap when you have that master/pupil relationship and the master dies. Instead, while Pellaeon has clearly been influenced by his time serving under Thrawn, he remains a distinct character with his own strengths and weaknesses.

Are those Ysalamiri statues behind him? :P

I think Filoni said "Yes, they are supposed to invoke thoughts of ysalamiri - but no, they won't be in Rebels - because the idea that the Force can be blocked like that, contradicts Lucas's ideas."

What this filoni needs to realize is...that contradicting Lucas's ideas is probably the BEST thing anyone can do to improve the universe.

Has this filoni person even SEEN the prequels??do they not see the horror that arises when a bootlicking lacky...cough*...Rick McCallum..*Cough....is letting George get away with a laundry list of shyte ideas?

Indeed.

If you ever dig up the early scripts for Star Wars, the Force was going to be called "The Bogan".

In Australia, this word has a particular connotation.

May the redneck be with you...

I found mappa tassie

Also...meat pie with tomato sauce and a short beer looks WONDERFUL.

It's like a cheeseburger but...less complicated.

Anyone else wish filoni was directing one or more of the new movies?

With all the time he spent collaborating with Lucas he likely understands his view of star wars better than anyone else.

Which means he knows how to craft a variety of stories without just pandering to the fans and being unoriginal *cough* Disney/JJ/Kasdan *cough*

Yes! Abrams is an imitator, Filoni is the successor.

Hey! I like pandering and being unoriginal! Not all of us can-

...oh, you meant JJ Abrams...my bad.

No.

Rebels works as a children's cartoon, EPVII worked as an apology for everything George has done since ROTJ

I think Filoni has a much stronger grasp on why people like star wars. And he shows it.

Star wars is reflective of way too many influences. Abrams focused in on one very specific aspect of the series.
