REBELS SEASON THREE TRAILER SPOILERRIFFIC!!!!

By Tailsgod, in X-Wing

If we compare this to what we know about Rogue One, it sets this up to be a very dark and troublesome season for the rebels. At some point something needs to happen to Kanan, Ahsoka, and Ezra. Per the OT the Jedi are all but extinct and they represent the last of that breed - understanding that Ahsoka isn't a Jedi, but she's a force user. In the Rogue One trailers, especially the two new ones, Jyn Erso makes a comment about how they're being destroyed, about the struggle the Rebellion is facing. Episode 4 also makes it clear in the crawl that the first significant victory is the battle surrounding the Death Star plans retrieval.

We're all pumped mate!

Yeah we are... now that I have GRAND Admerial done... I am working on my REBELS again... just got Hera done tonight in fact.

:D

Haha! That's a good one! I used to get told I look like a lot of different people all the time. I have a generic anglo-saxon face with the "man of the 90's" hair/van dyke. I don't get that so much since I've gotten a little bit thicker and a lot more greyer.

I will say that I was the first person I know to buzz my head and get the van dyke (not a goatee). People asked if I was a nazi skin head because of it. Or they said I looked like the guy from House of Pain (the band). Their big hit was "Jump Around!". I said my version was "Sit Around!"

Please no. Cloning was the worst part of all Zahn's books in which it appeared.

I more meant of it as an easter egg to what happened in the book, a throwaway line that most people will go "Whatever" to but people who read the books can go "I see what you did there~", but if FFG want the Imperial players to have generic PS9 pilots I won't complain as an Imperial player.

Yeah...it's definitely not a thing around which half of all Star Wars revolves around or anything...

Well he did it before that was the case, when "the clone wars" where just a bit of thrown in background without any actual substance. Its clear that his vision differed greatly from what we got in the end. While I don't actually mind it much in those books and it carries some nostalgia for an age that I couldn't experience it does clash with the clone wars era material we got.

The second worst part was Thrawn.

"Oh, I think the Rebels will do this!"

Then they do exactly that.

"I knew they'd do it!"

I know Zahn put out the first SW anything since RotJ, but having reread his books recently, they are TERRIBLE.

couldn't disagree more. I read them only a few months ago and thought they were fantastic.

I don't see the connection. Zahn's cloning is completely different than prequels' cloning.

And there is really no focus on cloning in any SW movie, no way any part of SW revolves around cloning.

"We made you a clone army"

"k, thx"

[some time later]

pew, pew

"I guess those clones were a bad idea"

That's basically it.

Yes, the Zahn books were the highlight of the EU. The rest was distinctly mediocre in comparison (apart from just about everything by Kevin J Anderson which positively stank).

I agree that the Thrawn books were the best of the EU, but that's not saying much. I listened to the audio book a year or two ago for the first time. It was OK. I enjoyed it. It wasn't great, but I did enjoy it. It's not my favorite series ever.

Do you know why Heir to the empire was so good?

Really, because Star Wars was DEAD when it came out, I mean there was nothing going on, no pulse.

It was a big hit in a new wave of EU stuff.

West End Games had been bringing out Star Wars stuff for a while though.

I just liked that instead of having one overwhelming toy / power (Suncrusher, Death Star, Super Star Destroyer, Battle Meditation, etc), the books were about adding small new things that when combined with existing tech and using creative means could prove terrifying (like those cloaked asteroids, if memory serves).

It just felt... refreshing. Some of the other books felt too much like a power creep all the time, as if wondering who could come up with the next, overwhelming super weapon or something.

That's just my 2 cents.

Are those Ysalamiri statues behind him? :P

I suppose if one had the ridiculous opinion that none of the events involving clones "revolved around cloning" then sure, one might think that. A more reasonable person might think that having the entire fighting force of one of the sides of the conflict that takes place over half of the series being made up of clones and for which the conflict itself is NAMED AFTER CLONES would "revolve around cloning".

Do "reasonable people" think half of Star Wars revolves around B1 battledroids?

Can the same part of Star Wars revolve around two things at once? Like Tatooine?

I think Filoni said "Yes, they are supposed to invoke thoughts of ysalamiri - but no, they won't be in Rebels - because the idea that the Force can be blocked like that, contradicts Lucas's ideas."

Frankly, Lucas' whole Midichlorians thing seems like it would only reinforce that kind of idea. The idea of an animal that suppresses some microscopic bacteria in your blood makes even more sense than an animal that turns off spirit magic.

In Darth Plagueis, "creating Force bubbles" is treated as a Force ability that the ysalamiri have access to because they're strong in the Force themselves.

Form II lightsaber combat, still called Makashi in the newcanon, was also called "Way of the Ysalamiri" in the EU - we'll have to wait and see if the "Way of the" naming conventions re-emerge.

EDIT: Form III Soresu, at least, is still called "Way of the Mynock" in Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need To Know.

There's really no point in arguing with someone that doesn't think the ****ing CLONE Wars revolves around cloning.

Indeed, no point in arguing with someone who doesn't understand that the Clone Wars are not the focus of prequels.

The Clone Wars aren't more about cloning than about building battle droids.

my only problem is that wedge flew for the empire once....

Many Rebellion pilots are trained in Empire Fleet. They then rebel against the evil empire.

And knowing is half the battle. The other half is red and green blaster bolts. :)
